Weak tool
Used the tool twice. Both times was on an ek 520 chain. Pressing the pin and pressing new plate on was good. First chain went well. Second chain, the anvil exploded when trying to rivit hollow nose pins. Not impressed and down right dangerous.

Excellent design, poor workmanship
I bought it a few weeks ago and used it today to change the chain on my bike. Both bolts were binding. I was able to fix the body bolt by brushing off the metal dust that it produced and oiling it. The extractor bolt still binds when it is well in the body bolt because the bore is not tapped properly for the entire length. The wear can be seen on the thread on an about 10 mm section of the end of the extractor bolt. Therefore it is hard to use it to break the chain.

Used it on my new chain and on the first use the breaker bolt shattered without excessive force. Not impressed for the price

Poorly Engineered
This tool could have been made so much better if MP chose better grade of material or even used hardened steel for the riveting tip housing. The bearing ball crunched right through the riveting tip housing while riveting a hollow-end pin on DID525. Another week without the bike. Swapped it out for the DID tool (no hassles)... worked like a champ.
Thanks FortNine!

Would be a great tool with revised adapters
I recently purchased the chain breaking tool Motion Pro Chain Tool - 08-0470 and used it to replace a worn chain on my GSXR 750. Both the old and new chains were DID 525VX.
The tool worked flawlessly until it came time to flare the first master link pin. I confirmed that the link rivets were indeed hollow nose type. I used the ball attachment per the instructions. The moment I applied some torque to the tool (by hand of course), I felt and heard a crunch. I immediately removed the tool to inspect. The magnet on the inside of the adaptor had broken into a few pieces. (Upon initially inspecting the tool, I did notice that the magnet was not sitting flush with the tool base, a detail I didn't like too much.)
At this point, I still needed to finish the chain job, so I decided that the magnet was not a big deal and I'd live without it. I attempted again to flare out the hollow nose rivet and noticed that the tool wasn't doing anything. The ball bearing was just recessing into the anvil as I tightened the tool. That's when I realize that the backing for the ball is what broke and crushed the magnet.
Ultimately, the ball adapter for hollow nose rivets failed with very little pressure. I ended making another tool using a ball bearing and it required A LOT of force to flare out that rivet. I can't imagine this adapter being able to handle that pressure. It would appear to be a design flaw. There is not a lot of material behind the ball, and the magnet itself cannot support the pressure. Once the magnet breaks, there is a hollow center which caves as soon as the ball sees any pressure.
I've included a picture, which shows the back side of the ball adaptor for hollow rivets. If you're familiar with the tool, the pocket where you see the ball is where the magnet used to be.
As the title says, this would be a great tool if it weren't for the design of the flaring adaptor. It had no problem pressing out the old pin (grind off the rivet head first to make it easier), and no issues pressing on the new link. It has groves to facilitate positioning on the chain.
I have the tool a 2-star because if you are not using the flare tool, it will work great.
Big thanks to FortNine for the zero hassle return. The professionalism does not go unnoticed.

Very easy to use!
I bought this a few weeks ago and read a couple reviews stating that it's too weak and that it breaks easily. I made sure to grind away the pin heads I meant to break on the chain prior to using the tool and found it worked wonderfully. Definitely worth the money, and it came in a very nice, compact case, which is an added bonus!

Worked great
Bought a cheap chain tool off amazon and it broke immediately. This product on the other hand, you can tell it is built for this. Works great, packaged well, in its storing case. I also like the fact that there is replacement parts.

Easy to use
Bought this for 520, 525 and 530 chains, worked perfect or splitting the 525 and pressing and riveting the 520 (does both hollow nose and solid). Haven't used it for a 530 yet but worked perfect for others. Easy to use and should be durable for many years of service. Nice storage box too.
