Rated 5 de 5 de par Feels great I bought this big bore kit a few weeks ago. Took me about 20 hours working time to dismantle and reassemble the motor(top end), tank, exhaust etc. Also very pleased I was able to assemble without removing the motor from the frame. Through my heat treat stage and about 300km into 1600km break-in. So haven't experienced all it has to offer, but immediately feels great. Nice smooth power curve. Can't wait until I can open it up .

          Questions

I have a pretty much stock 1984 80inch Evo Softail, Jugs are .030 over, cv carb, Screaming Eagle exhaust, I want a bigger engine kinda cheaply. Would new jugs & pistons accomplish this? if so what? I plan on an EV27 cam also. Streetability is a must.

Is this kit a quick change like the 95" where the pistons are basically the same weight as the 88" pistons

          Posée par: Dave 79
Yes it is just a simple swap bolt on.

103 Cases will need to bored out to accept these new heads correct? I'm lookin at building up my motor this coming winter and would love to go either 117 or 124

          Posée par: Kent
I installed the 106 kit on a stock 96 inch motor. The cases did not need to be machined for that. Going larger 117 or 124 would have required machining the cases. I believe that is still the same requirement if you are starting with a 103. Have fun.

I have a 2008 night train with a stock 96. Will this kit work. And will it work with the stock heads. Also it says it requires case machining what is required there?

          Posée par: Mitch
The 95" through 97" kits work on the 88tc motors without modifying the cases. I would assume the 96tc is the same as the only difference between the 88tc and the 96tc is the stroke on the crank. As far as your heads go these kits that fort nine seem to offer only work with your stock heads. The big bore kits through fort nine have the domed (or pop up pistons) and won't work with the s&s heads. I learned this after ordering the heads unfortunately lol.

Good day. Have a 80 inch Evo 1998 FXDWG. Are there any problems with height, stock pipe clearance? THANKS

          Posée par: Beerdoh
S&S Cycle's Big Bore kits offer big power without big hassles! They are designed to be drop in replacements to your current pistons and heads, so no need to modify or adapt your bike to them. Your exhaust will bolt up as it should without any mods necessary either.

I have an 09 ultra, motor has been taken to 104 stage four. Looking at the 124" upgrade. I will have to tear down and measure my cases, possibly bore the cases. Will I require a new tune? heads or valves? cam upgrades?

          Posée par: ol Blue
Definitely a new tune no way around that . As far as head work and cams that’s up to your preference. It’s not something that you have have done. But if your already that far into it then that would be the time to do it if you ever plan on it in the future.

I have a 2003 night train with 32,000km on it, it has the 88" engine I want to purchase the 100" big bore kit will I need to upgrade my oil pump to do so? Thank you

          Posée par: Thomas28
The 88" Harleys had spring tensioners on the Cam Chains which wear out and fall apart at about 50k-km to 60k-km. Can self-destruct the engine. Upgrading to hydraulic tensioners is highly recommended. You will need to replace the cam plate to upgrade to hydraulic tensioners; so upgrade your oil pump at the same time. This work should be done before considering a big bore kit, in my opinion. I bought and installed the S&S Cam Kit complete with 510C cams. Very pleased with the results on my 2006 Softail. Hey all I have a 2004 road king that currently has a big bore kit to 95 on it stock 88 lower. Will these still be a straight replacement to bring her up to 100. Thanks

          Posée par: ROBO
95 is as big as u can go on a 88--i could go to 110 because i have a 103--would like to go bigger say 131--impossible without case machining--motor teardown--have over 1000 miles on my big bore kit--hoping the pistons breakin better soon--too much piston slap right now--better when it warms up
