                  Description

The 509 Altitude 2.0 Snow Helmet - Carbon Fiber edition - is being reinvented to ride even harder.

This is the second generation of the bestselling 509 Altitude series, unleashing a whole new animal.

Leading the charge is the 509 Altitude 2.0 Carbon Fiber Helmet with a new hand lay-up carbon composite construction that's lighter, stronger, and straight-up sleeker than anything before it. For those who like to get aggressive, it includes the Fidlock® magnetic strap buckle for easy one-handed operation, a built-in universal camera mount, plus airflow control venting.

The difference between the Altitude 2.0 Carbon Fiber and the Altitude 2.0 Carbon Fiber 3K Hi-Flow Snow Helmets is that the Hi-Flow model is designed to maximize airflow with additional upper and rear vents plus a larger chinbar intake.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really no way to be positive with this Unfortunately, the purchase of this item is regretted after just over a year of use. First, disclosure on my use with the helmet. Its used daily as my helmet for commuting to and from work on an ebike.(Its a 10 min trip one way, 20 mins total a day) Never been in a crash nor has it been dropped or abused in any way. Given the intended use this product was designed for, I would classify this as easy going and hardly put to the limits that it should be able to live up to. This however is not the case, after just over a year, I bought the helmet in Jan 2023. I've removed the liners twice for washing in that time, and already the clips that hold the cheek pads in don't clip onto the pads anymore, so they easily slide out of place randomly. The foam pads that the fabric cheek pads clip to have been loose since after about 2 months use, and have now come out entirely, which was fixed just using some hot glue for now, and when examining the situation after they came out, I came to the conclusion that they just didn't have an adequate amount of adhesive to keep them in place, just a small dab on one spot each side. The rubber trims corners around the helmet are starting to stick out from the helmet, instead of lying flat like they are supposed to and seems to get worse every time I wipe it down, given the already clear cheapness on glue, I presume this to also be the case on this issue as well. And lastly, the finish on the helmet was what I thought to be very good, however I have now noticed a small part on the back of the helmet where one of the vents are that it has started peeling from the corner of the vent, small section, but I can imagine that this is going to only get bigger with time now that its started. Overall, given the high price point of this product, I absolutely expected more, both in terms of general use before things break, as well as just general quality. It seemed decent when I first received it, but that just seems at this point to be surface level, and when it actually comes downs to it, its seemingly really poorly built and I am extremely disappointed with this product, as well as another 509 product I am writing a review on right after this.(Aviator 2.0 goggles) And these 2 sub-par experiences are definitely going to be enough for me to absolutely not recommend to people as well as have me looking for another manufacturer in the future. The price point absolutely is a far stretch from the quality I have seen with this product especially when taking in account the brand, it should feel like I bought a quality product, but it feels like something no different than I would have if I bought something half the price, and that's just unacceptable in my book, I don't know if this was an anomaly, but 2 different products both with the same quality issues makes it a hard sell on that reasoning, I really wonder how the brand got anywhere near as big as they are with what I see...feel like I've been had. I really feel like with the price of this, I shouldn't have to be thinking about another helmet a year and a half after my purchase, but here we are. Hopefully this can help someone down the road, I see a whole lot goes un-reviewed here, so figured I would share my experience. Truly wish it was a different one, I had high hopes.
