Rated 3 out of 5 by from No sign of D3O impact-absorbing material here. The Sam Hill knee pads (that I own) from 7iDP have a large moulded 1-pc knee cup/shin pad made of D3O (or similar) impact-spreading material. Therefore I hoped the ankle pads would contain D3O. No such luck. The ankle areas seem to contain only soft, spongy, low-grade foam. Given the ankle pads are nearly 1/3 the cost of the vastly bigger Sam Hill knee/shin pads, I’d hoped the production budget would have allowed for true D3O material. While any pads are probably better than none, wearing these 7iDP ankle pads may give a false sense of security. I’m pondering ordering a sheet of D3O from €βαy and bonding that over the ankle areas of my 7iDP pads — using 3M 5200 Fast Cure adhesive/sealant. Other than the lack of D3O, the pads are made well and fit just fine. “Ease of Install”: easy to put on my feet (ok!)
