Description
Which is the best sort of lock for a motorcyclist to carry for normal use? Brake disc locks are a practical solution for many motorbikes. They are very compact, light and thus easy to transport. If your vehicle is to be parked for a long time in a place where there is a high risk of theft, combining the lock with a chain is recommended to prevent the motorbike from being carried away.

Very sturdy lock!
First of all I will confirm this lock does fit a stock 2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 on the front wheel only. The lock itself is very big and heavy and seems extremely well built...hence the price. After a few practice tries I was able to get this lock on and off easily without setting off the alarm. The alarm is pretty loud however and should certainly deter a thief. The alarm sounds with a slight kick to the tire or picking the bike up off the stand yet it is not so sensitive that you cant close the dust cover on the lock or gently sit on the bike. Time will tell if the alarm starts to cause issues via false alarms. Also comes with two laser cut keys...one of which has a blue LED light on it which is nice in the dark. The only real downside is the price but its worth the peace of mind to me.

It's big, it's beefy. The alarm is loud. I have yet to master unlocking it without having the alarm sound. I did it once, but I think that was just dumb luck. Near impossible to forget to remove it, as it will sound as soon as you start the bike.

Solid and alarm works correctly.
This is my second disc lock. The previous one was a Zena. The Abus was about $60 more but well worth it. Build quality, weight, overall feel of the Abus is much better. Keys and locking systems are similar based on a casual glance.
Where the Abus shines however is the alarm. The Zena lock was a nuisance, it would go off all the time... at random annoying everyone and wearing out the battery. After the second battery change the little door holding in the alarm mechanism broke and it pretty much became just a regular disc lock.
The Abus however is solid, once it's set, it doesn't go off unless the bike is jostled or moved in some way. My tip... put the over on first and make sure all you have to do is just pull it down over the wheel once you get the Abus set up.

Nice lock
Solid and heavy and the alarm is loud. Gives me peace of mind leaving my bike anywhere I can't see it for any length of time.

Great quality great craftmanship. No complaints other than having to race against the 3-4 seconds you have to install it before alarm goes off.
