A high performance technical touring jacket designed for travelers and commuters, the Altamira GORE-TEX Jacket utilizes a GORE-TEX laminated membrane shell for lightness and thinness, breathability and optimum wet weather protection. Engineered for all-weather, long-distance performance, this jacket's comprehensive array of technical details is designed for enhanced comfort and practicality, such as the magnetic main zip, the chest glove pocket and the elasticated waist, while the ventilation and the PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco detachable thermal jacket allow it to be quickly and easily adapted suit the weather conditions. This jacket is Tech-Air® ready and can accommodate the Tech-Air® 5 Airbag System, for complete upper body protection.

Absolutely fantastic
This jacket is a complete anomaly, there is essentially ONE review of this jacket online that I could find. It was on sale and I was looking for a waterproof jacket, I did not want a water-resistant jacket with a waterproof overcoat. I wanted a purely waterproof jacket so I wouldn’t have to make the decision every time i rode if I was going to bring the overcoat or not, nor did I want to pull over at every sight of rain to layer up. I love gore-tex and once you understand how the material is meant to be used and cared for almost nothing beats it for weatherproofing. I bought this on sale for $800.99 shipped. Considering this is Alpinestars flagship jacket you get everything. The AA rating is much appreciated, the ventilation is incredible, the liner is high quality insulation, the pockets are spot on and waterproof. I love how I don’t need to unzip the jacket to access the inner wallet pocket. I love the stretch pocket on the front for stuffing anything into it when I’m pulled over or getting gas. The collar fits snug and doesn’t let water in. The collar has a little loop on it to hold it open when you want maximum ventilation. I’ve ridden for hours in the rain in western Quebec and northern NY and the only thing that got wet were my forearms (because my gloves don’t go over the jacket). The forearm vents actually work and you can feel the wind run up and out the back vent. The armour in the jacket fits so well it feels like it’s barely there. The back pad (Nucleus KR-2 I bought separately) is the most comfortable pad I’ve ever had. I would buy this jacket again and again and again.

When wearing this jacket with the tech-air 5 air bag, does the thermal liner needs to be removed before the airbag can deploy properly?
No, you do not need to remove the thermal liner for the airbag system to work. The tech-air 5 system is compatible with this jacket with the liner or without.
