Waterproof, stylish, comfortable.
At the time of purchase, these are a 'brand new' product from Alpinestars, meant to replace the old AST-1s that came out five or six years ago. I never owned the originals, but I can say for certain that the newer version are certainly better-looking, being more slick-looking and less like purely 'functional' motorcycle pants.
Appearance aside, they are definitely water-proof (tested), and the inside liner (non-removable) is very comfortable to wear if one doesn't want to wear anything underneath the AST-1s. The pockets are not very large, but they are easy to access, and the care to ensure they stay waterproof is evident.
My only gripe would be the armour - it's a bit flimsy, and I'm not sure how much safety it would really provide in a crash. The pants also say the armour is adjustable so that it can suit different leg lengths, but I can't figure out how - it should be an easy and intuitive process (but isn't).
Overall, these aren't cheap pants, but they feel very well-made; they look good (and good enough to wear at your job if it doesn't have too strict a dress-code), they feel very comfortable with the material selection, built-in belt, and breathable waterproof liner, and they're CE-certified, so they're going to be a lot better than your typical pair of pants that aren't made of such resilient material.
Gripes are relatively minor, so five stars. Compared to my Klim Outrider pants (which cost nearly as much), I'd say these are far better-looking, more comfortable, but perhaps slightly less protective.

Questions
I would like to know about the fitment. I usually wear 30-31 wast with most if not all Jeans. Would a Midium size fit for me with this model.
Alpinestars pants fit smaller than most customers would expect. It is therefore recommended to go one size larger than indicated by the size chart.
