Description

Arai VAS-V Max Vision shield with Brow Vents and Pro-Shade visor.

Nowadays it is quite common to use a retractable sun visor that is situated between the helmet's outer and inner shell to protect against sun glare. However, it is Arai's opinion that this construction could affect the performance of a helmet during impact. As the Pro Shade System is completely mounted on the outside of the helmet, it will not in any way negatively affect the performance of the helmet.

The Pro Shade System is a small peak that is locked in position. Unlocking is easy; just pull the Pro Shade System forward, then it can be flipped down with a flick of the hand to act as an effective sun-visor.

This system is the complete all-weather visor for serious touring riders, offering protection against sun glare, fogging and misting, especially for riders that prefer an upright seating position and/or the comfort of a fairing. The Pro Shade System will enhance the rider's comfort significantly.

  • Complete system included - Clear Arai VAS-V MAX Vision BV shield with Pro-Shade installed

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Long Term Review I usually delay writing any reviews until I have used the item sufficiently to actually have anything useful to say. It has been 2 seasons of light riding and this visor shade system is in the garbage. Not because I didn’t like it. But because it just didn’t hold up. The sliding visor vents were the first to break. They even departed the shield completely. No problem, gorilla taped the holes. Then the left hinge assembly broke off. I liked riding with it, super convenient for day to night or sun to shade, no major turbulence with shade up while checking over shoulder but just does not hold up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient, but compromised. As others have said, this shield is a great choice for unpredictable riding conditions, and it does the job well enough. I would equate the effect of the sun shield to riding with a light tint. I also found the line it creates in your field of vision pretty easy to adapt to. However, now that I have a couple of thousand kilometers on it, I'm seeing abrasion marks on the clear shield where it meets the tinted visor. Apparently, wind pressure is causing the two to come in contact. Not thrilled about this, and I think I'm going to end up purchasing a tinted shield and using this one only when needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! Really happy with it. Simple to install, easy to use, blocks the sun like expected. Shade Visor could be longer, for when the sun is on the horizon line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Bought it to act as a universal visor for my Corsair so that I didn't have to pack a tinted visor when I went on a longer trip. The new Pro Shade system does the job well enough. It is easy to use, it locks in its position securely, and provides more than enough tint for those sunny days. That being said, it is not as good as a proper tinted visor for sunny days, and it is not quite as good as a normal clear visor for cloudy/dark environments. You will always get a little bit of your vision that is not going to be covered - it doesn't really pose a visibility problem, apart from a very specific set of circumstances with the sun at JUST the right angle, but it can be a bit distracting. The other criticism I have concerns the vents - the stock vents on a stock visor (or a tinted one) are great, easy to use, and feel relatively robust, if plasticky. These ones are a step back in this respect. Instead of opening in-out, these ones are sliding up and down, and feel extremely flimsy and also sometimes let light/rain/smaller debris slip through the openings, which doesn't happen with stock vents. All in all, this is a good enough alternative to a fully tinted visor, but it is a Jack-of-all-Trades-Master-of-None sort of affair. For me it was still cheaper than getting a separate tinted visor, which is a point in its favour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As usual works great Had one on an older helmet for 7 years. very convenient never had issues. I thought it looked silly in review videos but in reality it’s pretty close to awesome. I recently picked up a second one for new helmet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the fact that I can go out riding and not have to change visors if it gets dark. The visor helps in the rain as it acts like a peak when partially raised. I noticed that when raised it funnels more air into the helmet vents which makes it noisier. Once one closes the vents the problem is lessened. The brow vents can be hard to close when wearing thicker gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the product ! The sunvisor comes mounted on a clear one. So I gives you an extra clear visor. The sunvisor works really well, protects well from the sun and when lifted up (easy to do), it stays perfectly at its place. I love this products.

Has anyone found riding with the tint shield up on a naked bike noisy?

Asked by: Lin 790
I have a windy sport touring, honestly I didn't see a huge difference in noise. From time to time I would notice a small wind noise but it wasn't a huge issue in my case. I really love this shield!
