Axiom Journey Disc Rear Rack - 171338 Item # 921942

Description
The bicycle industry's original disc-brake compatible rack. Axiom designed this rack as a problem solver back when disc-brakes were still a new thing. The Journey® Disc remains a favorite to this day thanks to its flexible yet elegant mounting options and industry-leading weight capacity.
Construction:
- Hand-welded, tubular 10.2 mm 6061 T6 aluminum
Mounting System:
- Extra-long (280 mm) extension arms are reinforced (bridged) to prevent failure found on other brands of racks, due to spreading and twisting
- Traditional stay on right (drive side)
- Adjustable Versalock stay on left (disc side)
Features:
- Triple stay design has a sweepback frame that prevents pannier bags from bouncing into your wheel while you ride
- Suitable for frames where disc-brake placement causes a compatibility issue with traditional racks
- Generous platform size is optimized for top loading things like trunk bags and rear baskets
- Designed for modern bicycles by sitting your load further back over the wheel where it is supposed to sit
- Increased heel clearance
- Enhanced trunk bag / seat clearance improves trunk bag function, especially on smaller frames
- 280 mm Versalock® arms are long enough to fit even the smallest of bikes
- Versalock® arms can be DIY bent up to 30 degrees without reducing strength
- Double welded for extra strength and long-term durability
- Ample room for a full range of fender styles
- Reflector/light mount, Frame bolts included
Specifications:
- Compatibility: 26", 27", 700c

Second Attempt
This is my second attempt at using an Axiom rack. The first one was a Journey Uni-Fit, which broke on my first long distant trip. It was replaced under warranty with no problem. Having disc brakes I thought to try this rack. For me there is one major issue. The left arm which bypasses the disc brake has an adaptor fitting which sticks out approximately 30mm; thus, the pannier on that side does not sit flush against the rack. In my opinion this is not a good thing when fully loaded and travelling long distances on rough surfaces. I also think they should do a better job with a description and proper pictures on their website which highlight how the arm looks and installs.
