different feel than cork
These do not have the same feel as OEM friction plates. They are 'grabbier'. Also, of interesting note, with the same clutch pack thickness spec, these carbon plates completely disengage when you pull the clutch. What I mean about that is there is no clutch drag when the clutch is disengaged. With a cold bike in the morning, if in gear and you pull the clutch, the bike rolls very easily. This takes a little getting used even while riding because the engine will wind down quicker when you pull the clutch because the rear wheel and transmission are not turning the engine a little bit like when the clutch drags. For solo riding this 'grabbiness' is fine and actually when you are used to it can give you a better launch across an intersection, and a more positive, less sloppy acceleration through the gears. For two up riding, you want to be a master of the clutch, because the grabbiness of these plates can make for a jerky ride, maybe causing you and your passenger to bump heads.

More friction surface
I was constantly aware that my clutch could slip at anytime but I was more concerned with riding rather than fixing. I took a rainy weekend morning and swapped out the friction plates. I had originally ordered the entire Barnett clutch kit including basket but closer examination confirmed I just needed to swap out plates. These plates were thicker and had more friction surface. I left out the inner clutch ring and 2000 km later I'm still happy with the performance and reduced worry of clutch slip. I recommend this product for anyone with worries about their clutch

Questions
do i need to use the original rivited plate with this kit
You can use the original or aftermarket
Date published: 2018-04-03
How do you know if this kit is the one to use over the full kit? My bike had less then 20k when the OEM clutch started to slip. Can you mix OEM spacers with this kit?
You can use the OEM steel plates with these friction plates. These plates are a little more grabby so you want to keep your oil clean to keep the engagement smooth. I combined these with a heavier duty clutch spring to insure I have no slipping issues. Some bikes are a little weak on the clutch for those of us who like to twist the throttle a little harder. It is usually the clutch spring is too weak or has worn out . If you have ridden your bike for a while with slippage, change the friction plates as well.

Is the Barnett "carbon" kit available ? If so, how do I select the "carbon" option ? This would be Barnett p/n 302-30-20030
Briefly, the point I was trying to make was --> in the "features" section, it clearly states the "kevlar" kit AND the "carbon" kit are both available. This is true if I order directly from Barnett. Unfortunately, the Fortnine web site provides the option to order only 1 kit. The kevlar kit. So, the intent of my question was --> how do I order the "carbon" kit from Fortnine. Seems I can't. Oh well.

Can 100% synthetic oil be used with these clutch plates? Thks
Barnett recommends using ATF type F automatic transmission oil for the Kevlar. If its gong in a Harley use Harley Formula + regular gearcase oil . You can give Barnett a call and they can help you with it . Super friendly people.
