Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit, great looking, awesome deal Bought the snowmobile setup as it’s the same helmet with an $80 dual-lens shield and the $35 Breath Box on sale for less than the helmet alone! Very comfortable. Wearing it primarily off-road and find the temperature good. No issues at all with helmet itself. Love that I can wear it with goggles for good airflow but drop the shield if running through branches. I find the shield hard to see through if only one notch up because the dual lens is thick at the bottom. Fully up or fully down best. Might get the dark gold shield as a replacement. Would give it 5 stars if the shield had more stops.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value The only difference between the snow version and the regular version is the dual layer lens and the breath box included, so I picked up a regular lens with this. The helmet fits like other bell MX helmets, it is great for long narrow head shapes. My other helmet is a XXL Arai profile and a XL MX-9 fits great with no pressure points. The finish on the helmet is very nice and is holding up well after 2 days of off road riding. To keep the mate black finish I use the Tirox plastic cleaner. The pads are easy to remove to install a comms system or to wash, at the time of writing the review, I wore the helmet for about 800km and the pads still seem stiff and a bit rubbery. Ventilation is good with a closable vent up front. Even on hot days (25+ C) the helmet feels well vented and is confortable to wear with the visor down. The downsides for me is that the helmet is somewhat noisy (to be expected with this king of helmet) and it's very hard to put glasses on with it. I hope it improves as it breaks in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good helmet Bought the Snow version of the MX-9 because it was on sale, and I like that it had the anti-fog lens. I realized afterward that the snow version uses the shell size larger than the normal. Helmet. Makes my head feel like a bobble head. But the inside fits true to size. Other than that is it a comfortable helmet, and the anti-fog works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice helmet Bought this a few weeks ago, based upon recommendations from riding friends. The build quality is nice, surprisingly light. The fit is a little tighter than my Shoei Hornet (Both are size L). Bought a regular visor separately.

Questions

Is there any reason why this helmet wouldn't be suitable as a street bike helmet? Aside from the shield and the breath box, it seems identical to the other MX9 helmets. Is it street legal.

Asked by: Fitz in Van
This helmet would be quite suitable for street use. The main difference between this is and the standard MX-9 is the snow shield (double-pane shield). It is DOT approved, so it is street legal.

Hi - does the snow version restrict airflow to keep you warm compared to the regular MX helmets? Could this have something to do with the shell size being larger?

Asked by: braap
No. There is no difference in the two helmets. The only thing that makes it a “snow” helmet is the dual lens (to prevent fogging) and the breathe box. Take out the breathe box and swap the lens and you have a regular MX9 adventure.
