Well made and helpful
While not an absolute necessity for my change, my previous setup was binding. I wanted to make sure there were no alignment issues with the new sprockets and chain. This tool provided that assurance.

Useful tool
No, not absolutely necessary, but helpful. My last chain was binding, noisy and was unsure of why all the trouble. Got this tool to ensure perfect chain alignment, which it did well.

Useful but not absolutely necessary
I got this guy to help me make sure my alignment is correct, but from my own experience, I think to fully benefit from it, one may need to have a bike stand which I currently don't. So using common sense and various additional measurements helped me make sure my wheel is pointing where it is supposed to. This approach unfortunately makes this useful tool kind of unnecessary. Unsure if I would recommend it.
