Strong built but needs lots of prep work
I bought this tank to replace my 48's 2.1 tank. The tank came 10 days later in good condition as there where no dents that I could see from unpackaging. The first thing the instructions ask you to do is to check for leaks. I thought this was odd because it is brand new, the manufacturer should do this. Anyways I found a radiator shop here in Calgary to do it, the tank was good. I choose not to use that sealing kit that is heavily advertised on the web as I don't trust the long lasting effect of the paint you are supposed to put inside the tank. My rating of 3 is because when I cleaned and lightly sanded the tank and then primed it, the thing seemed to have so many small imperfections that I was surprised. I needed to sand a lot, particularly in the top, because there are mini holes in the welding section (middle of tank) that primer would not cover and filler won't either. I had to sand (with sander) bare metal with 180 grit for at least 2 hours to get this good, then another layer of primer brought out some wavy imperfections in the top again that needed filler and more sanding...
In short this is a strongly built good quality tank, great if you are planning to send it to somebody for paint work, but requires a lot of work if you are DIY. I have automotive paint experience and painted myself with spray paint, however I won't recommend to buy this if DIY with minimum prep and painting experience.

I have a 2014 48, I have read on other sites that this tank’s overflow valve is on the wrong side for a 48. Is this the case? Did you have to purchase anything else in order to successfully install this tank?
I have the 2014 48. The overflow valve is on the wrong side but I was able to re route the hose and it reached the other side without modification. Just needed a few zip ties.
