The TDC timing tool can be used to rotate the crankshaft by using a 17mm socket. The other use locks the crankshaft so that the horizontal cylinder on the Testastretta engine is at TDC. The tool only locks in this position so you know your horizontal cylinder is held in the right location. There are two small screw that you insert that locate the rotating part of the tool in the exact location of TDC. I used this to change my timing belts on my 2014 Monster 1200. I know you can rotate the crankshaft by spinning the rear wheel, but this tool makes that easier. If you plan to change your own timing belts or anything else related to rotating the crankshaft on a Testastretta motor, this is worth the seventyish odd dollars I think I paid.
