I have a 2012 R1200GS "Type B" is supposed to be the OEM replacement. Does this matter (since you do not have the type B), or can I buy the generic no-type option?
It doesn't really matter, you may buy the no-option tire.

Dear F9 There are mixed comments about this tire and wanted to make sure... Is the 501 and 502 tubeless tires? Looking to buy a set of these for the Wee and want to verify this is a tubeless tire.
Yes, they are tubeless tires.

Confused with the tire grading for the BW- 501/502, is the E, G, and J SPEC the speed rating? I understand the 'spec' matches OEM replacement but I am considering these for my BMW R1150GSA.
Found it elsewhere
BW502 type / Speed Rating / Tread Width / Tread Depth / Approved Rim Size
G / 69V / 6.1 / 9 / 3.50-4.50
E / 69V / 6.1 / 10 / 3.50-4.50
J / 69H / 6.1 / 9 / 3.50-4.50
