Definitely improved sound
Had about a month now. To replace the 40mm that came with the bold, it’s nice to have the audio profiles unlocked in the cardo app and the bigger speakers provide more volume, bass, and it’s easier to find the “sweet spot” in helmet placement. Definitely recommend anything from Cardo or JBL. With that said, I just got the pactalk EDGE with the NEW 40mm speakers, and they are noticeably heavier, and sound a lot better than the 45mm ones. So if you’re upgrading an older unit that you love; cardo or not. The 45mm are worth it. But if you’re an audiophile or need more volume…just upgrade to the Cardo EDGE

I’m glad I spent the money, well worth it. finally hear my music Clearly with volume through sena Bluetooth. Does it sound as good as over ear Bose headphones NO. but best I’ve had in a helmet, you can hear every word and quality beats at 120kph

Ho Hum Upgrade
I bought these speakers to improve the sound quality over the standard speakers supplied with the Cardo helmet communication/audio system. I’m afraid that the sound quality did not improve very much. I use an open face helmet, so there is quite a bit of wind and traffic noise, so if I used these on a full face, enclosed helmet, the improvement may be more noticeable. I would not recommend these, UNLESS you use an enclosed helmet.

Not really worth it
As I wear earplugs the difference between these and the standard set isn't that noticeable. Volume is a bit louder, could be because they sit closer to the ear.

Pretty Cheesed About This Purchase
- purchased as the stock 40mm drivers were proving inadequate at speeds exceeding 80kmph, while wearing a full face Arai
- Although it does not say on the page, the promised 'sound profile' adjustments are not available for all the units it claims to have compatibility with.
- Cardo's customer support was basically 'not our problem'
- Prior to purchasing this cardo unit, I had a Uclear Unit for the previous four years and in every way it was a superior system; better mic clarity, way better speaker clarity
- I'd take a ham sandwich to get this unit off my hands and I'll try something else out as this is borderline useless

Great improvement over basic speakers
I didn't have time to ride a lot with it but from what I can hear, the sound quality in my helmet increased from the original speaker that came with my Cardo bold.
I have to say though, I wouldn't have paid 160$ the full price for it and I still don't think they were worth that much and 107$ (33% off) was the max I was willing to pay for "improved speakers" in my helmet.

Great Sound but ...
Finally got around to fitting the new speakers in my Shuberth E1 helmet. Had to install new Cardo Update software on my computer, update the headset firmware, install an updated Cardo Connect app on my phone, and then activate audio profiles in the Connect app to expose new audio profiles. After fidgeting with helmet fitment due to their larger size, I'd say the speakers are a definite improvement over the original ones supplied with my scalarider SMARTPACK headset.
I was surprised and disappointed to see the audio profiles can only be activated on one headset with no apparent mechanism to transfer the activation between headsets if desired. I use two headsets and switch between them when touring without my wife to compensate for the headsets' lackluster battery life after a few years of use. This means one headset will have the good sound and the second won't. It also suggests I wouldn't be able to enable the sound profiles on other headsets should I swap these headsets out for a newer model.

It’s a standard connector, same as original. You’ll be able to unlock enhanced sound adjustment in the Cardo Connect app. The sound really improved, now I can recognize what song is playing while I’m riding

I'm tired of wearing earbuds and constantly adjusting them during my ride. So my question is....are you able to plug the JBLs directly into an Ipod to listen to music ? Is the cord long enough ?
No the included chord is not long enough to reach your phone in your pocket or mounted on your bar….but an after market cable extension would be easy to buy. The chord has a standard male end the same as any headphone chord.

They are only speakers to upgrade a Cardo communicator. They will not connect to any device or function on their own. They have no internal electronics or Bluetooth module.
