Great all round system that will do it allI bought this a month ago and so far I’ve been impressed with the performance of it. I have a LS2 Valiant modular helmet I put it in. I didn’t end up using the clip the pack talk comes with because it would interfere with the sun visor lever on the left side, so I used the sticky adaptor plate. It sticks out a little on the side and may look a little odd, but it doesn’t interfere with anything and it makes it easy to access the controls on the unit. I’ve read some reviews that said it could be louder, but I’ve found that if you place the speakers correctly so they are right over your ears, I’ve had to actually turn down the volume. The Valiant helmet has shallow cutouts for the speakers, and I’ve found them to place the speakers too high up in the helmet and nowhere near your ears. It takes a few tries to place the speakers well, but well worth the effort. The speakers are actually quite heavy and may in time need to be re adjusted on the Velcro.
As far as operating the unit, the voice command works very well. You just say hey Cardo and then the command like “radio on” and it turns on the radio right away. You can either say, “next preset” or simply press the forward button on the unit itself to switch stations. You can say hey Cardo volume down, for true hands free operation, or there is a wheel you can turn to adjust the volume which I’ve found works better.
You can access Siri or any other assistant like google by just saying hey Siri without the hey Cardo wake up command. There is a delay so she might miss your request so it might take a few tries to get the timing right as there is probably a lag between the phone and the unit. I haven’t mastered it yet, so to access music I usually set up my playlist first then say “hey Cardo, music on” and it will start your playlist immediately.
Battery life is very good. In the instructions it says you can charge the unit while using it, so you can hook up a USB cable to another battery you can keep in your pocket if you plan on riding more than the 10 hours or more talk time it has. Talk time includes listening to radio or music, so don’t be fooled here. There is an app you can download and you can access it while riding if you have a mount for your phone. It displays battery life as well, and you can access battery level by voice command. I tried it today but didn’t give the right command so I didn’t know how much battery it had left.
I haven’t used the mesh intercom system yet because I usually ride alone. Cardo has another unit lower than the pack talk that just has Bluetooth intercom, but has all the other features of the pack talk bold including the JBL sound. It’s cheaper if you only plan on riding alone or just have a passenger. The mesh system lets you include certain riders if you receive a call and want them to hear it. There are so many features I am still learning about this unit. You can have a slew of riders all blabbing away like you’re having a party in your helmet, if you’re into that, this thing can do it.
All round I’d highly recommend this unit.

Just buy itSwitched up from the Sena SMH10 and what a difference! JBL sound is awesome, volume adjusts with wind noise, every Hey Cardo command worked perfectly, from music, to calling home, etc. Used the little mic (not the boom) in a full face Shoei... my voice in the call home was crystal clear, as was the voice on the other end in the speakers. Hi Google works for finding fuel, or getting you to a destination with turn by turn in the speakers. An awesome piece of kit.

Better than SenaI bought this dual set for my wife and I. They are replacing our old Sena 10S headsets. Install was easy and pairing with our phones and each other was much easier than Sena. Sound quality is good and has more volume if required. Being able to have music playing while talking to my wife will be fantastic. No more one or the other.

Better than AdvertisedThese units work extremely well. On top of their own user interface (hey Cardo) you can also just use Siri. No idea how the noise cancellation works to keep out the wind noise but it works perfectly! Highly recommended.

Awesome Sound & Hands FreeI had previously owned Sena products the 10 and 20S, but am really glad I switched to the Cardo Packtalk Bold. With the JBL speakers the sound of the music is so much better. The other great feature is that the Cardo is 100% waterproof, Sena is not. I am also impressed with the hands free voice commands they work a lot better than my previous two unit (Sena). Don't mis understand the Sena's were good but the Cardo is just so much better!

I've owned it for 1 year and love it.I have the non JBL speaker version and am satisfied with the sound quality. I wear custom fit ear protection and the sound quality is better than with no ear plugs . Though the sound level is reduced, it's still adequate. It sounds like the JBL speakers are louder. The communication range is good but sometimes not as advertised. The sound quality is very good either using intercom or making phone calls. I bluetooth to my iPhone for phone, text and music. Sometimes there is a 2 second dropout while playing music but very rare. I store my phone in my right saddle bag and but have discovered that keeping it closer to the headset prevents dropout. DMC is excellent . Well worth the investment.
Yes. It can be fitted to virtually any helmet – Full face, dirt-bike, open face, 3/4, modular or half helmet. For installation on half helmets and ski helmets, you will need to purchase the Boom Microphone Cradle (a.k.a half helmet kit), sold separately (item 485219)

Does the Dual-Pack include all items in the box times 2?
Asked by: wisb
It does.
It's like buying two separate boxes, but with less cardboard.
The advantage is that they are pre-linked together!

My girl and I ride separately.
Looking to intercom each other and share music. Researched the web and no answers. Can this be done with this device? Would this be called music sharing? And can we music share and talk to each other at the same time?
Asked by: Dual Sport Ben
No, unfortunately, you cannot intercom each other whilst music sharing at the moment, although Cardo confirmed that they are working on adding this feature into their next Firmware update.

Would this be compatible with an Arai Defiant-X helmet?
Asked by: Soren
Yes, since the cheekpads and liner are removable, the Cardo Packtalk Bold JBL Headset would be compatible with an Arai Defiant-X Helmet.
