Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most versatile tire on the market Studded for winter ice. Then rip the dirt in summer and road race on pave. Highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8500 kms Just completed CDR southbound and most of the BDR northbound. Tires new at start wore quickly at the beginning then seemed to slow, like us. Thought we would change after returning from Mexico but tires lasted all the way back to Canada with less than 1/4" left on center blocks. Worked great for us but no rain to test mud. Stellar on everything else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Dual Sport Tire Bought this last spring. I ride a 50/50 mix of gravel road and pavement. I got roughly 7000km on my rear tire last season and it is starting to square off. I could probably get another 1500km out of it. This tire is amazing off-road and grips very well in corners on asphalt. It is just on my KLR but it is probably the hardest ridden KLR around. Gives me full confidence when transferring from asphalt to gravel at 100km/h plus. It does like to slide in wet under moderate to heavy braking. Already purchased another for this season. NOTE TO KLR riders, the knobs on the side of the tire will lightly touch your chain guard. Enough when walking the bike you will hear a faint "clicking" noise similar to playing cards in your bicycle spokes. You can trim the guard or just let the tire wear it away naturally like me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tire for true off-road riding! I use the TKC80 on my KTM1090 and take it both on and off road. Handles well in dry, rocky and muddy conditions. Also like it’s handling on the street - for a big knobby Tire. Only downside is that it does tend to wear quickly on tarmac on a big bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tire on and off road Bought these for my 2005 BMW F650GS Dakar. Great on the road, slightly noisier but too be expected. Excellent grip on gravel and offroad in mud and dirt. Can't comment on longevity as I just put them on last month.

          Questions

Is the TKC80 rear tire loud on the pavement at highway speeds. I have the Dunlop 606 and it howls like crazy, to the point I must wear ear protection.

          Asked by: Titanic
I used the TKC 80's mostly in the winter with carbide tipped studs, so they were definitely noisy. I can't believe that you don't use ear plugs all of the time anyway, I sure do, makes a huge difference!

Can you run the tl (tubeless) version with a tube. This is for a 150r18 on an africa twin

          Asked by: Ross100
You can fit tubeless tires with tubes, but there are things to consider. The first is that your rim has to be an MT-type rim. If it is marked as a WM-type rim you can only fit tubed tires. Another thing is that it is recommended to treat the setup as one load rating and one speed rating less than the tubeless tire says it can handle. That's because your tube and tire combination will be creating extra heat, especially the harder you ride.
