Great Practical Pant
Been cold lately so wearing it lots. Super comfortable and sturdy. Only issue is with sizing. I'm normally a 34. It was tooo tight. Upped to a 36.

Bought these pants a little more than a year ago with matching jacket. Start the riding season early(end of March) and loved the liner to keep me warm. As weather got warmer removed easily. Unfortunately my riding ended June 16th when I got cut off and flew off my bike. Not a single scratch on me .I did blow out my pelvis from the fall but the gear did exactly what it was supposed to do.Abrasion resistant! Thank you Firstgear.

Good Value- Nice Design
Great pants but one should get at least a couple of sizes larger than normal fitting jeans. Get at least a size up. Could use a couple more outside pockets for keys -change -cell phone- whatever. Live in the Yukon so pretty happy I bought them for spring and fall riding.

Great Pants.
Had these pants since March. Ridden in 3 to 13 C, rain or shine. Great water proof and warm pants. Got a 36 regular fit. I take a 36 waist jean with a 34 inch inseam. I found them to be snug and hard to get into and thought they may have been too short. Returned them for a 38 tall. The waist is great now, but should have stayed with the regular leg. They are too long and I wore them so can't return them now. Will get them shortened at the end of the season. They are great pants, pockets are in the right positions. Recommend this product, just get a size up in the waist.

Pants are great but fit is slightly odd
I really like these pants but they definitely fit on teh small side. A number of other reviews mentioned you should get a size up from the pants you wear so I did and had to send them back and got up another size. I wear a 34x32 jean and had to go to a 38 in these pants. at 6'2" 200lbs I found the fit ok in the end but the legs were getting baggy by the time I got a good fit so if your on the "portly" side you might have a hard time finding a fit you like with these.

Great overpants
I like the concept of overpants and although I bought these primarily for commuting so that I can wear my work clothes under, I have been using these as my go to pants for dual sport as well.
The good: Waterproof so far even in torrential Vancouver rain. I seldom use the thermal liner but it is fairly easy in and out and makes them toasty warm even into freezing temperatures. Love that these have D30 armour in the knees and hips and the adjustability is good. CE1 is good, CE2 would be better. The material is soft rather than stiff so they feel comfortable even without wearing pants underneath. I use the outer cargo pocket a lot and wish there was another on the left side as well. They go over my bulky boots without issue. I like the side zippers and venting although I have to stand on the pegs to get much flow through them. The reflective strips on the side of the legs stands out and I wish they had included the same on the balk of the calves as these pants partially cover the reflective strips on the back of my Sidi Adventure boots.
The not so good: The sizing is just plain weird for an overpant. I had to order up one size and that works for the waist but these are very wide in the legs. I don't see the wide legs as necessarily a negative because there is no billowing when riding just be wary to order a size up for the waist, or maybe two. After one season I am finding that the Velcro at the bottom of the pants has less stick than when new. Hopefully it won't fail. I wish the colour was a bit darker as the light gray really marks up easily. As for durability...I have a lingering worry in the back of my head that the gray material would be too thin sliding down the pavement. Hopefully I never have to test that out but it is worth noting for others. If anyone has slid with these I would appreciate seeing pictures of how they held up/
Overall though, I have to say that I am happy with these pants. I would recommend them to others. Good all around functionality for commuting, longer rides and light off road.

Good, but not completely waterproof
I bought these pants a few weeks ago to go with my Firstgear Kathmandu Jacket (purchased in 2016) for my 6,000 km East Coast trip this summer. First - like many others have said, the pants do NOT go by your normal pant size. I am a 33 waist and I first bought the 34 pants. Too tight in the upper waist area. I had to buy the 36 waist size. Still snug in the upper waist, but I would not have bought any larger - would have been too large. Second - they are not completely waterproof. We rode from Digby NS to Halifax NS in one day in the rain. The rain was both light and very heavy throughout the day and many riders would probably have stayed in their motel rather than endure the rain. However, we had to get to Halifax. While the pants did keep me mostly dry, the crotch area, which is the spandex type material, let water through to my riding pants. It looked like I had an accident and did not make it to the bathroom in time.
We did have rain on a few other occasions on our 11 day ride, and as the other days was only intermittent and not all day, I did not experience the same wetness problem as on the Digby-Halifax day.
I also did not take the pants liner with me as the ride was in August and I was worried about being too hot. I did not need the liner, even on the cold Halifax run. On other rain days, the pants were warm enough without the liner. Had this been October, I might have wanted the liner too.
Final analysis - I am happy that I had these pants with me despite the problem with the crotch area. Because that area was made to be more comfortable and can stretch, it cannot be waterproof too. Lesson learned: Don't ride in a downpour. In a light rain that does not go on all day, I think these pants would be fine.
Because they are not completely waterproof, I can only rate these pants a 4, not a 5.
