Post-WWII, Harley was one of the few manufacturers producing very large displacement motorcycles. During the 1950's, the Highway Act was introduced, which expanded roadways in the interstates, and that led to a giant boom in road trips. It was the perfect fit, because Harley was already there with the motorcycles that were actually capable of long-range tours.

Fast forward to today, and it can be said that there's really no greater icon of a Grand American Touring motorcycle than the Ultra Limited. As you're walking up to that machine or as you see it ride by, it's impossible to miss. The Ultra really is the ultimate, or the pinnacle Grand American Touring bike.
