Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Hiflo-Filtro is one of the most underrated oil filter brands around. They have been making filters for over 50 years, even manufacturing a lot of OEM filter. I'v been using these filters for years without any problems. High quality at a great price. And the "racing" version comes with a built in nut for easy removal with a socket or wrench. You can't beat that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HF 303 Oil Filters Second time I've bought the HF 303 oil filters; I particularly appreciate the "fitment" feature that tells me whether a product I'm considering will 'fit' whichever bike I'm buying for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to be made well They used very good material to make the filter and I did nor notice a difference between the OEM and this HI FLOW.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome filters! Only filters I buy for my bikes, they work awesome and you cant beat the price. I can get two for the price of one at my local Honda dealer. I use them in the Can-Am Outlander 650 max xt and Honda Trx450er!

          Questions

What is the micron rating of the filter media? You cannot see 5-15 micron particles and they start the wear process. If it flow's more than the OEM, it means the media is letting more damaging particles through.

          Asked by: derbyl
From the research I have done on spin on filtration devices, most automotive filters are in the 10-12 micron range.  This is basically the standard.  5-15 micron is indeed the clearance range of most dynamic surfaces inside the engine and you cannot see particulate smaller than about 40 microns (width of a human hair).  If your engine is not leaking oil, then the only way to introduce particulates into your system is through wear/breakdown of the engine or when you add oil to the system (new oil is not always as clean as people think and best practices in industry is to run new oil through a filtration system before it is added to a system).  So, if you are using high quality oil, changing it on a regular basis and have no leaks, a regular spin on filter should be more than enough to handle the particulate in your system.  You can purchase clean up filters with a lower micron rating, all the way down to 2 micron, which we use for short periods in a hydraulic system to clean up a contaminated system, however they need to be changed frequently  as they can plug off easily.  Be prepared for the price increase on these low micron filters they do not come cheap and without a way to monitor the flow through the filter, as in a differential pressure monitoring system, you may plug off the filter and not know it, resulting in no flow through it and damage to you engine. Or you can add a bypass secondary filtration system with low micron filters but this is impractical with a motorcycle. This information is based on my research and time in the industrial supply industry, working with products from major filter manufactures and companies like Caterpillar and Gates Hydraulics, however there are some great articles from the likes of Parker Filtration and Baldwin filters on line if you want to do your own research on the subject.

Unfortunately, the washer is not included for this item upon purchase. This is purely the oil filter.
