Very good replacement choice.
I switched to HiFloFiltro oil filters about 5 years ago. A few advantages to me are that the pricing is good, outlets that carry HiFloFiltro tend to have a good inventory and assortment of them, and lastly in my case of old style cartridge filters, the packaging includes the 2 O-rings needed for a proper filter service. Even much higher priced brands do not include those O-rings and don't offer them separately.

It was ok, but it appeared that someone else had it before me. It didn't look like it had been installed but it was banged up a little.

Questions
Does this filter come already pre-soaked in oil, or is that an extra step I need to perform?
The one I purchased is for my 2008 R1200gs and is a paper element that does not require any oil or spray product on it, not washable, just throw away. Hope this answers your question. Cheers

Has anybody noticed a change in mid range power with this air filter, as well as is the bike running more rich? Remap required?
I had this filter in my vstar 1100 for 3 seasons, approximately 40,000 K including a cross country ride last summer. Never a problem, smoother running, more consistent good gas mileage and certainly no remapping required.
