Good, not perfectThis helmet was a replacement for a six-year-old HJC RPHA 11: I ordered the same size and found the 12 fitted my head just about perfectly, and pointed out just how sloppy the old hat had become: definitely time for a change!
I find the RPHA 12 is an excellent fit, snug and stable and (a great improvement on the 11) is easy to get my glasses on securely and comfortably. It’s very light, noticeable even coming from a light helmet like the RPHA11. The viewport is wide with excellent peripheral vision. It’s also high, great if you’re in a tuck but it does give little opportunity to duck your head to get some shade from a low sun.
Ventilation is good, and the controls feel solid and positive. Set right they keep the visor fog-free, although at the expense of a cold face in cold weather. Better than having to crack the visor open, though.
The finish is excellent, the semi-matte paint looking much better than I expected. The interior is plush.
Now for the less than great: the helmet is hard to get on and harder to get off. It’s the price you pay for a snug fit, perhaps, and I feel more secure knowing it’s less likely to come off in an accident. If the worst does happen, the emergency cheek pad removal system makes the snug fit unimportant: it’s an option that is a must for me.
The visor is excellent for vision and sealing, is optically clear, and has good intermediate positions that click solidly BUT HJC have changed a simple, easy to change visor system to one that makes changing the visor to a frustrating fiddle that often results in it coming loose after a few minutes, which then requires taking the hat off to remedy because you can’t do it by feel. Perhaps it gets better with practice, but it’s difficult to fiddle the little projections into their tiny slots, and the complications presumably increase the cost of a new visor. To add to the inconvenience, the little tab to release it is fiddly with winter gloves on. This is really the only gripe I have about this helmet.
So, with the exception of the visor system, this is a very good helmet at a reasonable price and I would definitely recommend it if it fits you.

Decent helmet. Quite but feature poor.I made the switch to this from the the hjc j70 or something like that. This helmet is Significantly quieter when it comes to wind noise, but honestly that's it's only plus. It's missing quite a lot of creature comforts for the price point.

A fantastic helmet!Fits perfectly, has great airflow, feels light on my head. Comes with the smoked screen and a pinlock insert which is nice. Great value for the safety rating. It also fits my cardo spirit unit. Ide highly recommend this helmet for anyone who wants ECE2206 safety rated helmet with a premium feeling fit and finish.

An all-round great helmet!Fits great according to sizing chart. Feels comfortable and very quiet. The latching mechanism for the visor is annoying, it works but it can be annoying to open and close with one hand while riding.
