Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Bit Disappointed I had a RPHA 70 for the past 6 years and I loved it. I was very excited when I heard the RPHA 71 was coming out and waited for the Carbon version to come out before buying one. Well, the reviews are accurate. This helmet is noisy. I wear ear plugs so it’s bearable, but it’s definitely noticeable. I also find the visor is much more difficult to raise and lower than the previous model. I’m shocked that they didn’t create a position for the visor to sit with just a bit of airflow. It’s either closed or open so your vision is obstructed. Also, the front vent goes up the visor and not straight into your face so it seems stuffy. I think that’s why even with the pinlock the visor gets a big foggy. I never had these problems before. I do like that the sun shield can be adjusted further forward, as I used to bang my nose when it came down. It’s safer than the previous version, but considerably heavier …even the carbon version! Also, they added more padding at the lower neck, so I now I have bad pressure points. I’m going to need to do some pad surgery to customize, I guess. A good quality build though, and I don’t regret my purchase, but you should know there were a lot of sacrifices made to this helmet to make it meet the new Euro safety standards.
