A+ armor and build quality. Big weird sizing.
I researched carefully before buying this vest in size L/XL. While there are knock-off competitors that offer the same tactical-style leather for less money, the Icon Regulator has two big differentiators:
This vest has D30 back armor and a vented abdomen. These are two key features you likely won't find on any competing tactical-type vests from Milwaukee, Jackets 4 Bikes, Event Leather, Ruja, or True Element.
While I haven't destructively tested the Regulator back armor, I can say that the perforated abdomen venting does make a noticeable difference. Whenever I move my chest back from my Speed Triple's tank bag and let wind hit my belly, I definitely feel breeze cooling through the vest. If you're a cruiser rider with no tank bag in the way, you'll definitely get cooling value from the Regulator's perforated front.
For practical features, this vest has one Napoleon pocket on the inside left chest. It can *just* fit a 5.5" diagonal screen smartphone. There are also two abdomen pockets that could potentially fit a small handgun each (not a real need for us Canadians). And interestingly enough, these abdomen pockets are designed to be accessed as 'cross-draw' with your opposing hands. The sides are adjustable velcro straps over black thick gore-type webbing. I think there is some neoprene woven into the sides, too, as there is a partial stretchiness when you pull on it.
For its overall build quality, armoring, and style, I give this Icon vest 5 stars out of 5. The stitching feels solid, the leather is at least 1.4mm, possibly even thicker, and the included D30 armor and armor pocket are first-rate. The build quality does inspire my confidence, and I have no doubt this vest will have my back in the event of a slide.
Where I take away one star is the fitment. This vest is sized and cut weird.
Sizing is really big. CRAZY BIG. The size L/XL seriously feels like size XXXL to me. This vest really is designed to be worn over a jacket. Icon needs to rethink its size labeling to communicate this.
For objective reference: I'm a stocky athletic guy: 44" chest, 40" torso, and 38" waist, 210 lbs. I could stand to lose 10 lbs of belly fat. With a Regulator size L/XL, I could easily fit a downfilled jacket underneath and still have extra room for my torso.
To make the over-large sizing feel even weirder: the Regulator arm openings are gaping huge and cut low on the sides. The neck opening is similarly a gaping chasm, and cut low on the chest. I think Icon modeled this design after a Gold's Gym tank top for Shaquille O'Neal, LOL!
Speaking for myself, I'm OK with this over-large size and with these gaping openings; while a size S/M would fit me better, I do wear the vest over a kevlar armored shirt and a wicking base layer. With the straps at the tightest setting, L/XL works for me. In the photos below, you'll see that the vest's excess leather does buckle at the top of the back and on my upper chest. If I lose any weight, though, I'll definitely be going to tailor to shrink this massive vest.
Fitment Recommendation: if you're my size and you want a snug fit with minimal layers underneath, definitely go with size S/M.
Summary Recommendation: this is an excellent vest leather vest if you are seeking back protection and tactical SWAT style in equal measure. Just remember that this Regulator is sized to wear a thick garment underneath.
If you are looking for a snug athletic fit for riding with bare arms, minimal layering, and back armor as a secondary priority, then I suggest looking at other leather vests from Milwaukee, Jackets 4 Bikes, Event Leather, Ruja, or True Element.

Best looking leather vest around
I was looking for something to do it all, I wanted something with the highest level of impact resistance but something that would be durable enough to survive a slide. I needed something for 40 degrees above but also 4 degrees below. I wanted something that would look nice my icon alliance dark helmet and not make me look like I rode out of an 80's movie.
There are some awesome Things about this vest: it's a matte black, thick leather, ridiculously comfortable back armour, has a bullet proof vest kind of vibe and it's great for summer riding. But there's some things that I find are a bit off: the neck area is really blown out (looks perfect with a hoodie though), although it's adjustable you have to order a size down if you have any hopes of riding in anything but your bulkiest winter jacket and it obviously won't protect anything that's not your torso ( but if your looking at vests you should know this). I generally wear a large but sized down to a medium/small because the vest is "sized for over your jacket" so with that in mind it fits well enough, it's very... snug with my fleece hoodie but great with my warm weather clothes. I would highly recommend this vest and would buy it over again if I had to go back.

Nice Quality
This vest is a nice fit, and as described it does fit best over a sweater or jacket as the neck and arm openings allow that room for it, but still comfortable with just a t-shirt. i am 6'4" tall and 230 lbs, very glad i chose the L/XL shoulders fit nicely, if I had gone for a XXL like my shirts and sweaters it would have been WAY too big, hope this helps anyone else purchasing one!

bought this to replace my Harley sleeveless vest thinking it would fit better.i am really not a big fan of HD branded garments but my HD is superior in every way.Icon has a very small zipper ,small pockets and neck and arm openings way too big and also not enough velcro to adjust it properly .I returning the Icon and keeping my Harley vest.

Great quality. Pocket openings a bit small, but work. I'm a large and found it a bit big, but just sewed up the side adjusters. Nice feel on the highway.

Nice vest but...
I'm 5'9 220-240 with a fat gut and the L/XL was too small for me. Couldn't do it up. But quality wise it is really nice.
