Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved design makes it great for ventilation! I previously owned a Joe Rocket Phoenix 11.0 jacket and found the mesh openings were not wide enough to allow air flow. The old jacket was klunky and not very comfortable. I was pleased to see the improvements on the Phoenix 13.0. Without the rain liner...the jacket instantly provides relief the moment your bike moves. WITH the liner...you are water proof...and the jacket takes the chill out of an early morning ride. I just returned from a 10 day Circle Tour around Lake Superior (3800 kms). Temps spanned from 8 degrees in the morning, to 34 degrees with the humidex. We had wide open roads for days at a time...then would be stuck in city traffic. Not a good situation to be in leather. Here is what I found: 30-34 degrees celcius - air flow was excellent. no sweat spots (where the jacket may touch you) - never even took it off for gas breaks - very comfortable and looked awesome. 8 - 10 degrees celcius - wore it with the inner rain liner zipped in. - occasionally let out the fitting straps and wore a hoody underneath - took the chill off when accompanied with a long sleeve shirt or hoodie Rain riding - Wore the liner on the OUTSIDE of the coat - totally waterproof and comfortable - Liner adds absolutely NO weight. There is nothing to it. - When the rain ended...the jacket came off in 2 seconds and rolled up SMALL When I get home from riding I usually fling my jacket to the side as soon as I get off the bike to cool down and then cover the bike etc. At gas breaks I always took the leather off. Now, after taking off my helmet...I just leave this jacket on while closing down the bike or gassing up. It is THAT comfortable and breathable to wear. Weight I was surprised by the weight when it came out of the box (seemed heavy)...but the jacket sits beautifully on your body and rests in such a way that it does not feel like you are wearing much at all. I think it is because the armor is situated in such a way as to disperse the weight and hangs off the outer bone of your shoulder. Hard to explain....but you can see for yourself. Definitely the first time I can wear an armored jacket comfortably. Each piece of armor has small cuts in it so it bends with your body. Doesn't rest against the body and generate sweat like the old jacket model. Pockets Lots of well situated pockets that are easily accessible with or without the rain liner. The zippers for the liner have been moved to improve access to everything. I can keep my parking garage sensor in the breast pocket. The jacket is so thin that when I drive up to my apartment building...I just lean towards the sensor pad...my underground garage opens for me. I don't even have to take out the card! Jacket is excellent. It will be my main jacket from May 1 - Sept 30. Pairs nicely with a set of Tourmaster mesh gloves. Looks like they were a combined set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Bought this for the hot, humid summer weather. Jacket breathes incredibly, and offers really great wind flow. The fact that it comes with body armour on the elbows, shoulder and back (really, not that cheap foam thing) just made it more of a deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal! I've been using this jacket for the few past weeks when the temperature is high and all I can say is wow. Ventilation and protection combined is just absolutely wonderful. In the past I would ride in my t-shirt but I would feel so vulnerable but now with this jacket I don't feel the need to take it off because I can feel the we wind through the jacket and the ventilation is just amazing. Highly recommended especially with padded elbows shoulders and back protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots to like with this jacket - 5 stars Very pleased with this motorcycle jacket. Has built-in arm and back armour pad. Unfortunately I was cut off from a bicyclist pulling out right in front of me at around 40 km/h in which I locked up my front brake and low sided my bike. Fortunately I was wearing full gear including this jacket and I slammed down right onto the jacket arm pads and walked away without injury. Very impressed with the jacket saving me from any pain. The built-in and removal liner is really a great addition for colder riding days. This jacket would be my recommendation for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For A First Jacket Disclaimer: I've only been riding for about a month and gone out on one four hour trip. I'm 5' 7" (170 cm), and 145 lbs (66 kg). Fit: Size small fits me perfectly. There's enough room to layer with a t-shirt, thermal, and puff jacket. Yet, it's just as close to my body when just wearing a t-shirt. Airflow: The included waterproof liner bunches up in the sleeves when worn internally but provides excellent wind protection. It hasn't rained on my yet so I can't say anything in that regard. Without the liner, the jacket breathes! Wind flows through readily and keeps you cool - even under the back plate. Protection: Pads feel sturdy and unobtrusive. Elbow pads conform very well and sit exactly over my elbows. Back plate is light enough that I don't even know it's there 90% of the time. I haven't had a chance to test out the reflective panels of the jacket but they're well-integrated into the jacket so they shouldn't wear off very quickly if at all. Build quality: So far this jacket seems very well made. I haven't seen any fly away threads or problems with the stitching. The rain liner has a full length velcro storm flap so even when the jacket does get waterlogged, you should stay dry. All the zippers and buttons are strong and properly attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far very impressed I ordered this to replace my current mesh jacket. I chose this one because it comes in tall sizes. I haven't had it out on a ride but comparing it to my current jacket it will be very breezy. It has plenty of storage as well. It has your typical 2 zippered front pockets, it has a small zippered pocket close to the zipper on both sides, a pouch on the inside that is part of the visor pouch which is separate from it as far as storage for the visor. That pouch is sewn in at an angle that places the visor horizontally around your waste. Very ingenious. I wasn't to sure about the internal/external liner but after seeing it..again very ingenious. It is like a wind breaker with half a zipper on both sides of the full length zipper that fastens the jacket up. Those half zippers line up with the other half which are inside the jacket. Zip them up, fasten the velcro taps in the end of the sleeves, one loop and snap at the collar and the liner is installed. Then you are all set for cooler weather. When you are riding without the liner in you have a raincoat. The only thing I can say that isn't a negative is that the size's run big. My current jacket is a 2xl and it is snug with a sweater on. So I was going to go with a 3xl but they were on back order so I went with a 2xl again and I'm glad I did. It is plenty roomy even with the liner in. Looking forward to taking it for a ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, comfortable and waterproof jacket I bought the jacket two months ago. I was wearing it with the liner inside on a cooler day, on the highway, when an unexpected rainstorm hit. The jacket is 100% waterproof; I stayed perfectly dry. Other reviewers have already commented on how comfortable this jacket is on hot days. If you think it might get cool later in the evening, you can stuff the waterproof liner into the "visor pocket" to bring it along. The body armor feels reassuringly solid. Hope I never have to test it!

                  Questions

I am currently using off-road protection and love it because I can fit my heated jacket or a cooling vest inside. Would this jacket accommodate these articles inside? I am 5-10, 175 lbs. Should I get a large or xl?

                  Asked by: Rickyboy
I find this jacket a bit on the looser fitting side. I would look at the sizing charts and if you're at the low end of that size, you should be ok, if you're at the high end, size up. There are straps on the side and sleeves to help keep things in place.
