Great fit!
So I bought this jacket because I found it in a bike shop and tried it on, but it was much cheaper on Fortnine. If you're like me, I'm 5'7 and 190lbs and it's all in my hips. So finding a jacket to fit is often times excruciating. But this has stretch in it. And it's fitted a little wider in the hips which is great! Bought this in a XL and I couldn't be happier. It's also very much adaptable. If it gets warm you can just wear the inner mesh jacket. Overall I wish it did have a little heavier duty zipper. Just because it feels a little bit flimsy but I would still recommend this for anyone having a hard time finding a jacket if you aren't a size small, like me.

Great Jacket for three seasons of riding
With all three layers on, the jacket is warmer than I thought it would be. The outer shell keeps the rain and wind out, the main jacket provides the protection, and the inner liner helps retain heat. Worked well for a cold, early morning ride.
When it warmed up in the afternoon, the outer shell was easily removed and fit nicely into my backpack. On an even warmer day, the inner liner also folded up easily into my bag.
By itself, the mesh jacket allows excellent airflow. The padding feels strong but not restrictive. The internal pockets are accessible even with the liner attached.
I do have a few complaints, though. First, the liner has no attachment points on the back, so it is a bit clumsy to take off the jacket, and it bunches when put on. Second, with all three layers assembled, the front zipper sits a bit high and jabs me in the neck. I am hoping this will be less of an issue as the jacket breaks in. Next, the visor pocket is a great idea, but my visor kept sliding out. It never fell out, but it was far from secure. Lastly, although the jacket feels and looks well constructed, there were a couple loose threads on the mesh sleeves. One was 6 inches long. They did not appear to have broken or appear to lead to separating seams, just not cut properly. I tied them off to be safe and cut the excess. It's not a huge deal, but seems unacceptable for this price point.
Overall, I really like the jacket and the 3-in1 concept. It's a bit pricey for a textile jacket, but the versatility is worth the cost. It takes the place of separate summer, cold weather, and rain jackets. I recommend this jacket to riders that want to be prepared for changing weather.

popular alter ego version 14.0
I'm replacing my Alter ego 10.0 very similar jacket. The new jacket fits me well at XL. Upon initial inspection the only thing lacking is the connection of the various layers of the Jacket to each other. My 10.0 had a better system of connecting the layers together

Poor Fit
I was so excited to replace my old Alter Ego jacket with this new version and I'm very disappointed that I just don't love it. I ordered a Small and found it way too big, so went down to the XS and although the sleeves fit well and the length is good, the body of the jacket is huge and billows around me and since there are no waist adjustments, there is no way to fix this. Another small annoyance is that the mesh jacket has no connection to the shell in the sleeves/wrists, so every time I put the jacket on, the mesh sleeves push out of the shell and I have to tuck them back in, causing the material to be bunched up around my wrists. The materials and quality seem excellent, but if I could return the jacket I would, simply due to the awkward and poor fit on me.

Great Jacket. Fabric not as good as the 13.0...
Owned the jacket for about 1.5 year. Happy with the fit, the versatility and the protection. Very comfortable.
However, the colours are fading much quicker than anticipated. Bought the grey/yellow(high visibility), but after 4 washes using delicate soap and cycle, it's more like grey-ish and yellow-ish, and definitely nothigh-visibility anymore.
Disappointing, since all my other Joe Rocket gear is not fading as fast... Not sure if I would pay the money for another Alter Ego in the future...

Great Jacket, good protection, awesome mesh!
This is a good quality jacket from Joe Rocket. Great versatility, you get 3 layers.
The mesh layer holds the protective inserts. The back insert looks rather cheap and does not let air through, that's the only downside.
Great zippers and stitches. So far, so good.

Wonderful apparel
I bought this riding jacket couple months ago and I absolutely love it! It’s breathable, with the shields I feel safer, it’s nice looking also.

Does the mesh inner jacket color match the outer shell
You can view the mesh jacket on Joe Rocket's site: https://joerocket.ca/product/womens-alter-ego-14-0/

I prefer the hi-viz version. My question is this, when the outer shell is removed on the hi-viz version is the inner mesh jacket hi-viz as well?
Yes it is.

What is the difference between the 13.0 version and this?
The design is a bit different, but more importantly, the colours with the 14.0 are not as durable as my old 13.0...
Otherwise, excellent jacket. Fairly true to size, a bit bigger.
