Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kawasaki Versys X 300 Kappa Engine Guard Hello Fortnine: It was fairly easy to install and instructions were excellent. The engine guard looks awesome on my bike and I hope I never have to use it. Having it though does give me a piece of mind and will allow me to venture off road a little more readily. By the way, I love Ryan from Fortnine's You tube videos. His knowledge and sense of humor makes me laugh all the time. Dave Alder Nova Scotia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy for the price I bought this engine guard after having looked at a few others on the market. From my understanding they all pretty much all connect to the same fastening points on the frame inside the opening of the fairing and on the main engine mount bolt. Many of the other engine guards did not have the crossbar in the front, which I think adds added stability and strength to the guard. Installation is fairly straightforward I guess but just remember to arm yourself with patience and don't tighten anything until you have all bolts put in place. You'll need at least two ratchets and two 3" extensions and two 6" extensions and if you can two 3/8 universal joints as it will make tightening the engine mount much easier. You'll also need a set of hex sockets don't remember the sizes at the moment and a 13mm open end wrench. The instructions show what looks like tape and scissors and it ended up being a piece of rubber padding that is placed on the guard where it makes contact with the inner hole of the fairing. Do yourself a favour and go and buy some better padding at the hardware store as the adhesive on the one they give is atrocious, it's already coming off, so I'll have to loosen the bars and re-apply a better gasket of some sort, specifically with some 3M adhesive tape. I like how the guard looks on the bike and I think in a fall the $210 investment will save some $700 worth of plastic fairing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! Had to wait for these as they were back ordered but well worth the wait. Received an email telling me they were back in stock so ordered and presto … they were sitting on the doorstep. Straightforward to mount and good looking too. Fortunately I we have not had the opportunity to see how well they work ?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just alright. After installing these today, I have to say I'm fairly underwhelmed. The instructions manage to be confusing despite being 6 pages long - parts list shows #s 1-9, so seeing a #10 snuck into the instructions later was confusing to say the least. I also still have no idea what I was supposed to do with the scissors and tape. The bars themselves don't fit together particularly well. After 2 hours I still could not get the crossbar to sit level. The threads in the soft steel constantly try to cross thread; I gave up before I could manage to ruin them. There were also threads in places where there shouldn't have been, which I had to grind out with a dremel. Verifying the tightness of some of the bolts later will be impossible as the bars cover access to them. I plan on replacing these bars eventually.
