Blocks frontal airflow, for better and for worse
To be honest, it's too much windshield. I wanted just a little bit more deflection to pass the airstream overhead clear of my helmet and reduce highway wind noise but this is not ideal. At slower speeds, it completely deadens airflow behind it and you start to suffocate on hot days with that air cooling gone. It also adds a layer of material you have to look through, so I expect that over time microscratches, dirt, dust, bugs will be more and more of a problem; I took it on a dusty road and surprise surprise the entire thing got coated and I lost visibility that I would otherwise have kept on the shorter OEM. While it does attach to the 1050XT's adjustable mount, the windshield is just so massively tall that you cannot drop it down low enough to get airflow or unobstructed sightline on the road.
I am not convinced overall this was the right approach over a clip-on extension.
As for installation, bit annoying, as the OEM windshield uses some fasteners encased in rubber with a flange you might have to cut off in order to transfer the mounting hardware to the new windshield. You can replace them with rubber plumbing washers instead, which work fine I guess. You should also prepare some adhesive foam strips to place at the bottom of the windscreen where the OEM plastic mount attaches. Neither of these things are included.
Since I'm stuck with it, I will probably try to cut down the top 3-4 inches and reduce its height and hopefully not mangle it. It does what it intends to do, just be sure what it does is what you want.
