Description
Pair of Monokey® K'MISSION side cases, 36 ltr, equipped with matching lock cylinders plus a third matching lock cylinder for mounting a separate top-case. The cases are detached from the side frame by turning an external knob that is equipped with a cable system (patent pending), placed directly under the Security Lock. It is not necessary to turn the knob to attach the cases. The strength and structure of the hinge allows the lid to be opened completely, without the use of straps or retention cables which could produce a "guillotine" effect. Four belt-strap loops integrated into the structure of the lid, set into the contoured lid to give an elegant shape to the whole case.

Solid and roomy case for motorcycle camping
I bought these cases for my 2014 KLR, to replace a set of Kappa K40 plastic cases. I wanted the aluminum top-opening cases for convenience of "overloading" gear. These 36 Litre cases seem to hold as much as the previous 40 Litre cases did. They are solid, well made, waterproof, and they look great on the bike. The only snag is that my 58 Litre top case is so wide that you can't open the side cases with it installed. But it's an easy job to remove the top case to get into the side cases. The pair of side cases came with an extra lock cylinder that I installed in my top case for convenience. I added reflective tape for better visibility at night. Very well made and great looking cases.

Larger then expected, but fantastic surprise.
I've been running these cases for a decent bit now and love them. I went from having to wear a backpack and hardly picking up anything along the way to using the bike as a daily and even a grocery getter.
The cases fit way more then I would have expected. The best comparison I can think of is a grocery basket at most stores, plus a little extra. I've had everything from a couple small water bottles, up to a box of cat litter, and 4L jug of milk in them and they're still going strong.
They've also held up well to the sporadic weather in the prairies too. Though they aren't 100% water tight, I've ridden in absolute down pours and had the bike sitting outside in them as well. The most amount of water I've seen in the cases is no more then a couple tea spoons after and hour or more.

Love those bags/boxes
Purchased those boxes for my 'new to me' 2015 Vstrom in early June and they are excellent. Have drive over 6000 kms already and the boxes are just what I had hoped for.

Great Tool for the Job!
My Kappa KMS36 Hard Aluminum side cases are installed on my 2023 Triumph Tiger 900GT. I had always had colour matched touring hard bags on previous bikes that I used primarily for long distance traveling. With my new bike, I new that option was not available, so I set out to find hard bags that would compliment the bike, haul my gear around safely out of sight and out of the elements. These side cases are very slightly smaller than the more industrial looking 37L bags. No pun intended, but my mission has been met with these bags. The aluminum coloured bags look great on the bike, and although they are not advertised to be 100% waterproof, there was no water ingress when we got hit with a big rainstorm on my first tour. I also purchased the Kappa waterproof inner liner bag for one side. It also is highly recommended - functional and a good fit.
Large, hard side cases are going to make any bike wide and somewhat restrict leg room for the rider and passenger, but when you know that prior to the purchase, these bags are great for the appointed task. Installing the mounting hardware (separate purchase) takes some time and mechanical basics, but is self doable for most who venture into motorcycling.

Great product, highly recommended.
Great product. So much better to keep things organized and find things that are stowed away. I'm not an hard core off road rider so I'm not worried about being pinned under my bike on a trail. Suits my riding style perfectly. 95% of my riding is road and 5% is gravel roads.

I currently have the Kappa K22N Monokey Side Cases, and one broke. I want to replace them with the KMS 36 side cases. Will the KMS 36 cases fit the same tubular mount that I have for the Kappa K22N cases?
Yes, the KMS 36 side cases will fit your current tubular fitting system if their model number starts with "KL....." or "KLR.....".

Do you turn the key one way to detach from the bike and the opposite way to open the lid?
Nope there is a release button on the inside of the box.
