Description

This product is an advanced technology that lowers operating temperatures for extended longevity and better performance than the OEM part. Our Series voltage regulator brings better reliability and charging system performance. A Series regulator is a significant upgrade over typical shunt type voltage regulators. A shunt regulator controls battery voltage by grounding the stator coils to dissipate current as heat, rather than sending it on to the battery. Series regulators control battery voltage by intermittently disconnecting stator coils from the regulator electronics, limiting current flow through the unit and on to the battery completely. This results in lower regulator and stator temperatures, more accurate voltage regulation, and increased reliability of your charging system components.

Features:

  • Direct replacement to your original unit
  • Plug-and-play, direct fit, easy installation
  • The quality exceeds the OEM equipment
  • Improved heat sink and charging capabilities

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Polaris replacement RR, 12V, 35A, 3 Phase On my 3rd unit, #1 & #2 had pins molded in strange positions, that would not accept the connectors - returned. If a stock connector won't plug in, How was it Tested? 3rd unit is installed in a 2015 Suzuki V-Strom650. Replaced factory RR with this one cause I wanted to save the stator and not waste any motor power. Connector shells were chopped OFF and 14awg wires soldered direct to metal terminals. Kept the factory Suzuki connectors so its easy to go back. A Series RR only takes power from the Stator that's needed. Standard Shunt RRs make full power and short extra power to Ground, Stator and RR always running flat out, gets stupid hot. Voltage runs a little high (+14.5Vdc) for my liking, and takes about 4 seconds to ramp up to running voltage, but has proved reliable so far (just got back from a Tuktoyuktuk trip, powering a heated jacket, pants, boots & grips (10A)). Suzuki Stator makes 30A. 650 Strom is already inherently efficient, getting 500km on a tank with "normal" use. Buddy had the same bike, 2013 V-Strom 650, but Always used more fuel than me, which could also be his riding style. Chopping & Soldering would void your ability to Return which is why I waited a year to see if it holds up. Would I do it again?, Yup, and intend to put a Series RR on my other bike. Starting in 2015 the V-Strom1000 came stock with a Series RR. Price has gone up since but if you want a Stator Saver, and take the slight extra power to the road, or your RR/Stator has already burned, consider this item.
