Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable, but armour pockets placed badly I would have given these pants 5 stars, but unfortunately because of the armour placement issues, I can’t use them. I have been wearing Klim K Fifty 1’s for seven years now and my only gripe is that they’re a little baggy and heavy, so I was very happy to hear that Klim had released the K Fourty 2 pants. I was looking for pants that would fit me a little better, be very comfortable, and still have the protection. The K Fourty 2 pants are extremely comfortable in both standing and sitting positions. As you would expect from Klim the construction is excellent. The D30 Ghost Armour is a very comfortable change it’s very low profile compared to the moulded D30 in my K Fifty 1’s. However, this is where the Klim design went wrong for me. The mesh pockets for the knee armour are not positioned properly. In the lowest possible position the armour sits way too high on my knees. And there is no adjustment at all from side to side. Standing there is no problem, however, when I sit down the armour ends up covering only half of my knee—it twists towards the inside of my knee, which would be quite useless in the event of an off. In my opinion the knee pockets for the armour need to be lowered at least 3”- 4”, and the pockets should either allow for side to side adjustment, or perhaps be angled about 45° towards the outside of the knee to compensate for the *twist in the seated position. (*I have the same issue with my K Fifty 1’s, however I’m able to position the armour at an angle in the pocket so that when I’m on the bike it sits perfectly on my knees). I considered keeping the K Fourty 2’s and having the knee pockets repositioned by a seamstress, but adding that expense to the cost of the pants that I’d already paid ultimately made me decide to return them. Too bad, because if this design flaw wasn’t there, these pants would be absolutely perfect. If the armour adjustment issue is addressed by Klim at some point, I would definitely buy these pant again. Just for reference, I’m 6’, 185 lbs and I wear 32” x 32” jeans. I ordered 32” x 32” K Fourty 2’s and they fit perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product, wrong sizing I always 30x30 for jeans and 95% it works. I knew I should have choose one size longer for riding jeans. So I went for 30x32. It was way too long as actually measuring was 33. I returned and I got 30x30 instead. The actual inseam was 31, the total length when I sit on my bike is touch short. The biggest problem is, the knee pad placement is way to high and can only adjust for higher position. *see the photo. The funny thing is, on the label on my 30x30 pants shows it is for the people in 180-186cm tall. I am 173cm. 30x32 would fit perfect for me if it was actually 32, instead of 33. OR 30x30 would be OK if the knee pads are lower in the position. I have wore this a couple of times and can't return at this point. This is $400 jeans in wrong size that I have to wear next few years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pants! But... Attractive, decent fit, and the hip armour is almost unnoticable to wear (though the leg armour may need to be adjusted a bit - and will still let you know you're wearing it now and then). They're a bit tight, and will need to be broken in like regular jeans. My one disappointment is fairly minor: within a day of wearing these pants around, I noticed the hem was coming undone on the leg. For gear of this price, I definitely expected better. Note: Order your pants longer than you need them, probably by about 2". They'll have a bit more break at your ankles when un-cuffed, but remember that they have a reflective tab that only shows when they're turned up! If you don't order these long, you either won't get any use out of it, or you'll have very cold ankles when you do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jeans Bought these jeans in size 34, I wear 32/34 depending on the brand. They fit bigger than I expected, need to wear a belt to keep them up. Once I'm riding they are as comfortable as any other jeans. The jeans are well made and the armor gives me a sense of protection that regular jeans don't provide. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This pants protect your thigh not knee Knee protection way too high, Three strips of velcro, only 1 step you can move. They must admit this design flaw. I called Klim and they can't replace because I wore it. OK, now I am stuck with $400 jeans doesn't perform as it's advertised.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing is no match with actual size If your regularly wear waist size 32, make sure you order waist size 30

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protective and super comfortable These jeans are amazing! They feel just like my Levi 541’s, stretch denim with a tapered leg and relaxed fit on the hips/thighs, perfect for riding. The gusseted crotch makes them even more comfortable. Sizing is similar. My 541’s are 32/34 and these are 33/34. They’re actually longer in the leg than the Levi’s but it’s nice to fit down over riding boots. The armour makes them heavier than regular jeans but not by much. You can’t feel the hip armour and barely notice the knees. I wish the D30 was CE level 2 but it’s still nice to know you’ve got the protection. It’s awesome that the jeans are CE AA rated considering how light and comfortable they are. The knee armour is adjustable inside a mesh lining via Velcro. It works but it’s a little awkward to adjust. I feel like they could have found a better way. All in all they’re an excellent option that gives you decent protection with the comfort of standard jeans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, durable and Quality Product These jeans are comfortable and they do what they are supposed too. Nothing gets a full star review because nothing is perfect. Some of the minor irritants for me are of my own problem (size) but information wise, I figured i would share. I am 5'7 about 150 pounds with narrow hips. I struggle with finding jeans that fit well all the time, so these are part of that obstacle. They hang off me a bit, but I would imagine that anyone who is a bit fuller would not have an issue. More of an FYI for anyone who has a similar build.
