Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but worth it, if you've done your homework! The good: - Very packable with soft objects. Enough space for a week's worth of city clothes when on a roadtrip. If you need a commuting/daytrip setup, this fits too as you can cinch the straps and make it as compact as needed. - Seems to have high-quality construction. Can't vouch for long-term durability yet. - Fits close to body without causing too much overheating (I wear a mesh/textile jacket so keep that in mind). - Does not cause any considerable drag, even at high speeds. - Stays dry inside main compartment (tested during heavy rain/hail for 15 minutes). - Adjust once and then easily snap on/off every time, without having to readjust straps. - If not overloaded with heavy objects, it's surprisingly comfortable off the bike, too. The bad: - As expected, because it can get quite large in volume, this gets in the way of tail bags attached to your motorcycle. The moment this R30 gets lifted by your tail luggage, the positive effect of the strap system is lessened and you may feel more strain. Also, if it hovers around because of contact with another bag/box, this can create unpleasant changes in balance, especially while riding at slow speeds. I tested this and it does not instill confidence. Something to note: if you plan to use this with moto luggage, think side-bags/panniers instead of tail bag/box. - The amount of volume can push one to overload weight-wise. The straps are clearly not fit to handle very heavy loads (compare with a good hiking/trekking backpack). Your back, shoulders and hips will thank you for using this for the light stuff and putting the heavier objects in the moto luggage. - Because there is no solid backing, the small pouches are nearly useless if you pack the main compartment tightly. The ugly: - The price. I really like this backpack, but with taxes, this thing is on the edge of $400. That's an insane price for a bag. Make sure to find the correct size, pull the trigger and stick with your choice for years, otherwise this can get very pricey, very quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what Kriega says it does I got this months ago here at Fortnine before I picked up my new bike on the other side of my province. First use? Travelling in with it as my luggage on a bus. Second? An 850 km ride back on highways in all kinds of weather, including hundreds of kilometers of wind and rain. 3,000 more kilometers later, daily use to work during the week, rain or shine, and to hikes on the weekends, and it's waterproof, it's a tight perfect fit high on my body, it's a long-term, low intensity work out addition that's building muscle, it leans into every corner with me, perfectly, without any shifting, I trust it. And, I got what I paid for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Quality, and Outstanding Comfort I ordered this a month ago but it shipped very promptly and it arrived when I was on holiday, so i've really only had it a couple of weeks. I have the US20L and US30L drybags and they are amazing, so the quality of this pack is just what I was expecting. Definately up to my very high standards! It's also very, very comfortable. I bought this pack for running errands on my bike when I would be making lots of stops and didn't want to be worrying about getting into the US drybags all the time, but have found a regular backpack's shoulder straps difficult to put on over the sleeves of my armoured leather jacket. No problem at all with the Kriega R30, as the armholes are enormous by comparison! This pack is so comfortable to wear that it may well replace my travel backpack that's been to 4 continents with me! Sure, it's expensive, but it's great quality and will last forever, so just spend the money. As they say, when you buy quality, you only wince once.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and lots of room I bought this to ride across Canada (SW Ontario to BC) with as my old backpack had worn out. Had a 4 hour ride through various levels of rain up to heavy and everything stayed dry. I rode with it on my shoulders for the whole first day and hardly noticed it. I had really loaded it up, so I figured out a way to strap it to the bike for the rest of the trip, but I would have been fine to wear it as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best backpack ever The price put me off but then i watched/read all the reviews on it and figured with the fortnine return policy wouldn’t hurt to try it out. The second you try it you realize why this backpack is the best, tons of room, i mean like 3 days worth of clothing big. The straps are perfect, and the waterproof is also good to have as well. I wear the kriega r30 everyday to work, work shoes, gloves, spare sweater in case it gets cold, tools, extra visor and my lunch box. Ya it fits it all, not only that but i barely feel it on me. Oh ya very durable to, zipper is super tight. I love this backpack. The only thing i dont like about it, is for daily riding with buddies, can be a lil to big, hence why i got the r20 lol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made I bought it a month ago and love everything about it. The only thing for me is that I am quite small framed and I cannot make it small enough around my frame.

Questions

Would this perform well in cold conditions? Mainly to be used as a backpack for the winter snowmobile season as well?

Asked by: KyleB
I use mine all year round. I live in Northwestern Ontario, so yeah, it's great. I have had zero issues with it.

What riding position is this meant for ? I ride a sportbike and heard complaints for this bag from people riding adventure bikes.

Asked by: JF10R
I ride a street bike (S1000R) which is fairly upright seating. I can't think of any issues you would have riding upright. Keep in mind that the bag is rather tall (I'm 5' 8). That being said, the only time it's given me issues is when I crouch down (or try to look up) where the back of my helmet will hit the top of the bag. Recall that the bag gets slightly taller or shorter depending how much stuff you pack in it (since the top rolls down).
