The “optional drinking system” refers to a built-in routing system (bag space and tube guide) for carrying a hydration bladder and routing its drinking tube through the jacket while you ride. Essentially, the jacket has a pocket or compartment for a hydration reservoir plus guides/channels to run the drinking tube up to your shoulder/chest area so you can sip water without stopping.
