Floorboards
Having floorboards is essential to be able to vary foot position while riding. The shifter is not for everyone since anyone with a boot size larger than US-10 is not going to be able to get their foot between the up and down shifters.

Due you have permanently remove and/or modify the cowlings in front of the floorboards?
No. You will need to temporarily pull them off the lowers to access the mounting bolts. Once you have made the switch, you reinstall the lower cowlings.
