Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe and durable! Have tried other tires and always come back to Metzeler tires! For my '98 Goldwing, I could not ask for a better performing, long lasting with amazing rain weather grip. Had the front last up to 31,000 kms and the rear 25,000 kms. Just one thing, I found that if I did not increase the tire pressure to 42 front and 46 rear, cupping was inevitable riding two up and loaded. Make sure not to buy the Shinko tires. Did only31 kms and found them to be very unsafe, in my 41 yeas of being a motorcyclist. Ordered Metzelers right away and the Shinko's are now tree swings for my grand-children. They now like them better than I did!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome love these tires, good handling in dry and wet conditions. Put a set on my wife's bike and she could not believe the different between the brand she had on her bike and the metzlers. I get about 25000k on the rear and about 40000k on the front.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great front tire Great front tire for aggressive experienced riders. I like to run a Metzeler front tire and a Dunlop rear. The Metzeler front tire is a little softer than the Dunlop front tire and it helps to grab the white/yellow lines when it is col to cold out. I have had issues with the Dunlop front tires on colder mornings on tight corners in the mountains when I touch the center line. The tire will let loose on the center line and slide until it catches the pavement again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch Service This is a great tire for my Yamaha Royal Star Venture. Great handling in dry and especially wet conditions. Just wanted to also add how great the service is from Canada Motorcycle. I have been ordering from them for a few years now. They are always great to deal with and very prompt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on the 1800 Goldwing I've had trouble with tires on my 1800 Goldwing I pull a small (MC) tent trailer and have had more than 1 rear tire separate on me both Dunlop and Metzler. I now use the ME 880 180 70R 16 which has a higher load and speed rating. No trouble since. I love the ME880 and am afraid it will be replaced by the ME 888.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good so far used this tire to replace a mu85 put it on and drove 5500km in 7 and a half days it looks like new and handled fine through the rockies twice. I will say that a couple extra pounds of air will help them last considerably longer.

my bike has a 180 70B 16.....can I run a 180 70R 16? what does the B an R mean?

Asked by: krmr
After the speed rating is the tire construction, which has two options: Belted (B) or Radial (R). “Belted” means fiberglass, Kevlar or aramid fiber belts, which has added strength and load capacity. But, if a tire does not have (R), then it is bias-ply, which means that it has multiple, overlapping rubber plies. These overlapping plies form a thick layer that is sensitive to overheating and is less flexible.
