Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, effective, only very minor issues Bought this to balance some Bridgestone Battlax BT-023s on my FZ-09 and it did the job very well, it would rotate freely with even a 1/8th oz. unbalance, the result was tested above 160 km/h and I can say they're well balanced. Just a few notes, the package does not contain the needed hex wrench to tighten the cone on the shaft, so be prepared to source one. Said cones aren't machined all the way down to a fine point, they're left with a small step and that meant they were nearly too big for the small front axle on my Yamaha, it was at the bleeding edge between fitting and not. Be warned that if you plan to balance something with an oddly small axle bolt, you might have to drive out the wheel bearings to mount the cones directly in the wheel. Lastly, some very very minor nagging on my part, the bearing assembly seemed to have more radial play than anticipated, but it did not stop the balancer from working right and rotating very easily, perhaps to keep in mind if used for very very fine truing, some bearing mount compound would fix that easily. Finally, before using it I chose to insert a flat washer between the folding leg and the bracket on the pivot pin to tighten up the assembly, it would likely have performed well without, but the insertion of that single washer took out the small wobble the folding leg had, and any improvement with so little effort is always welcome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works This is more sturdy than it appears, with no perceivable flex. It's big enough for a 21" front tire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective Tire Balancer I had never balanced a tire before. MC Garage YouTube is my go to. Followed the instructions and geeze balancing a tire is easy. The stand is compact, folds up and stores out of the way. I haven't used the stand to true dirt bike rim yet, but for balance street sport bike tires, this stand works very well. Tires are well balanced. Used to balance 4 tires now with no concerns.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a great stand, but not without issue. Once I mounted the balanced wheels on my bike, I had no shake or vibrations. It clearly helps to accurately balance your wheels. The problem I encountered is how finicky it is to mount the wheels on the stand itself. For how expensive it is, you would think it would have a better mounting system. It's hard to push the tapered cone into the rim properly, and the hex key screw that holds the cone in place is hard to use. I had to use a LOT of force to get it to tighten enough to hold in place properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit pricey, but it works. It did allow me to balance my wheel. But, the pin that allows the stand to fold/unfold didn’t fit into one of the holes. I fixed it easily enough. But, the fact that I had to cost this item 1 star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I have used this to change 3 tires so far. You just need to make sure you hold it securely to your work bench to get accurate readings, a little light pressure is all you need. Important to have a level work service.

Questions

Does it work with songle sided swing arm like the BMW 1200GS?

Asked by: Jean Michel
Very unlikely, the center bore on the BMW rear wheel looks to big to be mounted on this.

Will it work on a bigger cruiser tire like a road star. Not likely right?

Asked by: Roadie
Just depends on the inside diameter of the wheel axle tube. It should work on the front wheel for sure

Will this work on a single sided swingarm wheel such as a '14 VFR 800?

Asked by: Randy
Depends on the size of the hub opening. The cone-shaped spacers that hold the hub have to be slightly larger than the hub inside diameter. The cones are about 1.5 inches in diameter. (Does not work on the back wheel of my R1200GS, but is awesome for the front)
