Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I bought this windshield for a Yamaha XT250 that I bought in January (2020) and now, at the end of April, is the first opportunity to try it out. My main objective was wind protection, and rain when needed, and I would have to say that the product is excellent. That said, this is not a bike that I expect to be doing much, if any, major highway/interstate type riding, so I can’t comment on that. Installation was quite easy and straight forward, though an extra pair of hands came in handy at one point, and it is very easy to adjust to customize the setup. The height of the windshield is approximately 14.5 inches (at the center), so it is tall enough to take the wind off the chest and neck area, and divert it high enough so that there is limited turbulence around the head (I’m 5’ 10”). There is a bit of vibration (two mounting points), but nothing annoying to me, and I expect it can be stabilized more if needed. I had researched this item quite a bit before buying and saw a lot of good comments on it, and nothing negative. It is, for example, the windshield that the Russels used on their XT250s for their trans Asia/Europe/US trek in 2017 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qesA551pvIA), so I thought it would be good for the day trips I want to do in NS. I have to admit that I’m probably looking more at back/dirt road rather than single track off road per se, but I bought the quick release model so that I can easily take the windshield off when needed. Simply detach with the two knurled head bolts at the handlebar and it’s off in a matter of seconds. I also looked at the National Cycle website and was very pleased to see that it is made of polycarbonate, as opposed to acrylic, as polycarbonate is far more resistant to flying debris. They have a very good video on their website, and youtube, demonstrating that. Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone wanting a light weight windshield with good protection.
