Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium modular at a reasonable price I bought a N91 evo modular when it was on clearance, and like alot of modulars, the chin bar was close to my mouth. When I saw that Nolan was introducing the N100-5, I was anxious to try it once it was available in Canada. The moment I saw it on Fortnine, I ordered the Consistency in black/white. My head measures 59.5 cms and would be described as intermediate oval. The size chart said 60 cm for Large (other sites said it was 59-60 cm for Large), so that is what I ordered. It was quite snug on the first attempt to put it on, and remains a comfortable snug through my riding, so I would say the fitment chart is true to size. The helmet is of great quality, as I have come to expect from Nolan. And to my delight, there is more space between my mouth and the chin bar that is similar to my full face, so that makes it much more comfortable. The lower part of the chin bar is angled inwards bringing it very close to my beard hairs, but I don't even notice it when I'm on the road. This helmet is very comfortable along with having great looks. The faceshield is wide and tall, providing great visibility. It is easy to flip the chin bar up and the dual action brings it close to the helmet. It's great when I fill up. I'm not a fan of spring loaded drop down sun visors, but I'll live with it because I love the helmet itself. I can feel cooler air moving around the top of my head when I open the top vent, so the ventilation is better than I expected. The neck curtain is thick, certainly thicker than my full face, which is both good and bothersome. On one hand, it does a great job of making the fit seem secure, and keeps the wind out. But the very nature of the neck curtain means heat from your breath doesn't escape easily. On our cooler mornings, this has meant some minor condensation on the Pinlock lens, but only in one spot (I'm ordering another lens to see if that corrects it). In the meantime, I removed the chin curtain which means less protection from wind and drafts, but there is more circulation around my mouth area, so I didn't see any condensation. That brings me to my final point. I would like it if Nolan would concentrate on their tradition of making high quality premium helmets, focusing on style and safety and leave the production of the anti fog lens to Pinlock, allowing the leaders in anti fog lenses to provide Pinlock produced lens for the Nolan helmet lines. Most helmet manufacturers do that, The quality of an anti fog lens produced and supplied by Pinlock seems better/different that allowing Nolan to produce a lens under the Pinlock licence (this is from experience with another of my helmets that has a Pinlock produced lens) . Let the experts concentrate their efforts on what they best produce.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a proper helmet Decided to finally buy a helmet above the 200 dollar mark, but wanted to be within reason. I ride a 650 V-Strom xt and do lots of highway then dirt roads. My preference is a modular, and this one is actually a good one, that can technically be worn open while you ride, as it passes the open face test I believe. I don't ride open, but some slow dirt roads, my head could use some extra air. The vents actually work too. The helmet fits tight and I bought according to the recommendation chart. I'm also figuring that my old helmet was way too loose, so now it is better for protection. What it is though is very quiet, compared to what I'm used to. I have speakers for Bluetooth com, and can listen to tunes if I feel like it at over 100 km/h. This is a peaceful helmet noise and wind wise. All the parts seem of good quality as they should be at 500 bucks. Well worth it in my opinion! The pin-lock visor is included too! Very good visibility and comfort. Cheers

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good all around bucket for your valuable head I bought this about 6 weeks ago. I tried to get the hi viz but missed out twice so called and Fort 9 said their supplier was out of stock so I ordered the white. I like the colour and it may even be cooler than the hi viz in the heat. Features I will hi lite: weight: lighter than my flip Schuberth and slightly heavier that my full face Arai Vector visor: sight picture is SUPERB, great peripheral vision and the distance inside to the visor is greater than either of my 2 former helmets giving me a feeling of more AIR & space.A good number of ratcheting positions, but unlike my ARAI you must keep it fully closed in rain or it will drain down on the inside of the visor. Sunglasses (VSB): again excellent ... with the number of ratcheting positions you can adjust the screen right above your nose and not on your nose. Vents: still deciding re the comparison to the other 2 above. Flip UP: EXCEPTIONAL; I like the locking system and you can open it up with one hand(2 fingers). Strap: I am getting used to it in comparison to the D ring> just hope it lasts as long as the D ring. Fully adjustable and easy to close and open. Quiet: very quiet ... quieter than my other older helmets. Eyeglass space: works well although tight. Had to have my rubber wings glued on my glasses as they would pull off when removing my glasses. Removing Visor from helmet: still trying to figure this out from the instructions. No success as yet. Communication: unsure of what to buy. The UClear has the best speakers and no need for a boom mike. vs the Nolan communique ..no reviews on it; vs the cardo pack? Maybe Ryan can advise. Overall: Excellent helmet and I am glad I purchased it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complete package This helmet has sun visor, pinnock, excellent ventilation, quick release chin strap, great color scheme, great fit and finish. A really complete package for a reasonable price. The sizing was confusing, but I referenced Nolans site. Using this, the helmet fit snug, but good. I was so impressed, I bought another for my wife.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge if you are XL or bigger I have to admit I was forced to buy the helmet in a hurry as I needed a full-faced helmet and I was just frantically flipping through quality options that were in stock and would ship quickly. The helmet did NOT ship quickly, I might as well have been more patient. Things I missed in my hurry: Safety: I was shocked that the only safety rating sticker on the helmet was the lowly DOT sticker. At this price point I was getting used to seeing ECE ratings and missed this. If this helmet meets ECE standards I haven't seen proof of it. Shell sizing: the N100-5 only comes in two shell sizes, one for S to L, another for XL to 2XL. Internally the XL is a good fit but the shell is enormous and I would say would only look good if you have an ample figure. Otherwise get used to the idea of looking like a bobblehead. Comm compatibility: related to the shell sizing issue maybe? (I haven't seen the smaller shell) The outer to inner shell thickness is so thick that the well-reviewed Chinese comm system I bought on Amazon wouldn't clip on and you would need to use the glue pads. The outer shell didn't have any flat spots in the area I could reliably stick the pads to and I didn't want to risk voiding my ability to return the comm system for a refund by experimenting. Questions on motorcycle forums on this issue (do I have any options besides Nolan comm?) didn't yield any results. The Nolan systems are just wildly expensive, I don't know how they attach and whether even they clamp on to the XL-2XL shell or require tape. Things I observed in use: Sun visor: on the road the spring activated sun visor got stuck half-open when trying to flip up and did it repeatedly. I pulled the inner shell and outer shell apart then reattached and it operates normally now, but there is something tight in there. Vents: I suppose they do something. Nice that they are there but you will still want to open your visor a notch, there doesn't really seem to be a click position that opens it just enough except for between zero and one. Really, it's a better helmet than this review makes it sound, everything else is great. But given a choice I would have preferred another helmet if my local stores had stock.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have other helmets(not Nolan) that are XL, I used Nolan's sizing chart too which suggested an XL would fit so I ordered it. It did not fit it was way to small. One good thing is they have an excellent return policy so no trouble returning the helmet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nolan N100-5 I bought this helmet a month ago to replace my old Nolan helmet and just like my old one it fit my head perfectly. Everything about this helmet is high quality. The built in sunscreen now has a more positive position-adjustment mechanism. The mechanism to open the flip-up chin bar however is smaller than the old helmet and not as easy to open with gloves on. Vision to the sides is excellant. The helmet is noticeably quieter than my previous helmet. I'm glad I decided to spend the extra dollars on this helmet.

                  Questions

Hi,interested buying Nolan N100-5, which Nolan communication system is compatible with? My head size mesurement is 58 cm contour, according to size chart ( M ). Does this helmet fits exactly the head size or I have to order one size bigger? Thanks.

As far as comm systems go, I went with the BL901 LR and couldn't be happier.  Easy installation with accompanying manual and YouTube video.  Paired effortlessly with my iPhone and Zuma GPS.  Crystal clear comms, and excellent music playing quality!  I haven't tried linking with other riders but I did not buy it for that purpose anyway.

Ive had my N100-5 helmet for about a year and its been great but the other day i got a huge scratch across the faceshield. I am struggling to find a replacement for it online, are they sold here? Or is there a link to an exact replacement? Cheers

Unfortunately, a replacement shield is currently not available for this helmet.

Is this the n100-5 or the n100-5 plus version?

                  Asked by: Mrhappy 002
This is the N100-5. The 100-plus has a newer design lining but the rest of the helmet is the same.

Does the helmet have the ece2205 decal on it or tag on chin strap? I know it's ece certified but I need it to physically have the certification presented on the helmet.

                  Asked by: Burnie
Hello. The helmet does not have the ece displayed. It has a dot decal only. I think this is to satisfy the US market. Canada is fine with either one. Hope this helps.

I own Nolan N104 helmet. Excellent helmet. Only shortcoming is 3 position face shield with 1st position leaving gap of 2 inches allowing rain to vortex and enter helmet. Does N100-5 have a 5 position face shield and how large is the 1st position gap?

                  Asked by: FGHOG
The N100-5 has a tab that will lock down to secure a closed shield. You can release that tab which does move the front of the shield up a crack, but I wouldn't call that a city de-fogging position. Besides that, it does have a 5 position face shield, with the 1st position measuring about 1 inch. On another point, I don't know what the N104 chin curtain looks like, but the N100-5 chin curtain is quite thick. I had to remove it to increase circulation. I didn't want to breathe in my expelled breaths when the bike was stopped (or like today in humid conditions). Removing the chin curtain also helped stop the bit of condensation on the anti fog lens that I experienced on our cooler days. But besides that, I love the N100-5; fit and finish is great, and it even looks good on me!
