Replacement cheek pads for the Nolan N87 Helmets

The large size N87 fits well around the top of my head, but the cheeks pads squeeze too tightly. Would installing XL cheek pads into a L helmet resolve the pressure a little? and are they guaranteed to fit into an L helmet's clips?
