                  Description

Olympia's unique technical take on multi-season motorcycle apparel allows their gear to adjust to ever changing conditions. These separate layers can be combined to adapt the jacket to the current weather condition on your multi-day trip or your everyday commute. The Ballistic airflow mesh panels allow for transition from a solid textile to a breathable mesh jacket with just a few pulls of the zippers. The Insulex Insulation layer holds warmth, while the over/under waterproof rain jacket provides breathable rain protection. The Olympia Dakar 3 Jacket can thrive in all 4 seasons while still providing abrasion resistance and impact protection from Cordura fabric and CE level 2 armor.

                  Layer One

Consists of a rugged 500 and 1000 D Cordura shell for maximum abrasion resistance. Zip down Cordura panels at the chest, arms, and back expose ballistic air mesh panels that offer additional abrasion resistance plus adjustable airflow construction as needed. Forget having to stow away or misplace cumbersome removable vent panels as these panels stay attached to the jacket and fold away neatly into self-storage pockets.

                  Layer Two

Consists of a fully functional Hi-Viz rain jacket that can be worn both over and under the main out shell as weather conditions dictate.

                  Layer Three

Consists of a removable full sleeve thermal layer with authentic Insulex insulation. This layer can be worn under the rain jacket or the main outer shell. This handy zip out feature insures multi season riding comfort through a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.

                  Features:

                  • Outer shell constructed in 500 and 1000 denier Cordura fabric
                  • Waterproof two stage over or under rain jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and confo! I'm using it for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. It's light and confortable. Wide mesh provide very good ventilation. I think it looks actually better in real than on pictures. It came with the back armor broken (I think it was folded for transport) but Fortnine sent me another back armor and it's all good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly an improvement over Dakar 3 I used to use the last iteration of this jacket, the Dakar 2, for about 3 years, and have recently upgraded to Dakar 3. It is MOSTLY an improvement, but there are some downsides. Firstly, for the good stuff - the jacket now comes with CE Level 2 throughout, whereas the old one came with a mix of Level 1 for back and 2 elsewhere. However, these aren't the most breathable protectors, but I'm gonna dock any stars on this count. What I would dock at least 1/4 or 1/2 of a star for is the removal of a Cordura fabric strip from the back - whereas the old jacket had that strip of protective fabric covering the back, this one is all mesh, which makes little sense to me, as that area is almost entirely covered by the back protector and doesn't really ventilate anyway, and yet you are far more likely to slide on your back than your belly in a crash, leaving this jacket somewhat less protective in that area. The pocket situation is a bit of a disappointment - whereas the old jacket had two sizeable chest pockets, this one only has one, and it's on the left side, so not easily reachable if you're riding. On the positive side, the 4 waist pockets now have better waterproofing, as the outside one is now covered with fabric and has both a Velcro and zipper (the old ones had snap buttons). That, however, means the front of the jacket is slightly less breathable than before. The thermal liners, which used to use a lot of velcro patches before, now use magnets. I am not convinced about their longevity vs Velcro, but it is slightly easier to put on and a bit more comfortable. The adjustability is good, but curiously slightly worse than the old jacket as well. I was very disappointed to discover that they got rid of the hideaway velcro on the collar - on the old jacket you could tuck it in and leave the collar open without the tab flapping around. No such luck with the new one unfortunately. The elbow adjusters use a different design now, with a double loop, which technically allows more adjustability, but is also lower than the old one, so you can't use it to adjust the area above the elbow. You do get a two position snap button adjuster there to compensate though. Another step back, in my opinion, are the gusset adjusters on the wrists. They simply don't have as much adjustability as the old ones, which could easily accomodate gauntlet gloves both over and under the sleeves. The new one still CAN do it, but only just. If you're at the gas station or someplace where you need to take your gloves off, it will take a couple of minutes to tuck them in underneath the sleeves, if that's how you prefer it. I haven't had a chance to test its waterproofness, but the liner feels much like the old one (and you also got a little carrying bag now), which would make it more water RESISTANT than truly waterproof. It'll get you home nice and dry in a drizzle or a short blast of rain, but it won't last more than an hour or two in any kind of serious rain in my experience. That doesn't mean it's bad, it's just satisfactory for the price, and it can still be worn underneath, over, or on its own. The waterproof/resistant liner also has better visibility now, whereas the old one was mostly black with a smattering of reflective stripes. Overall, it's still a great 3 season option with a very competitive price. I am somewhat disappointed by the changes introduced in Dakar 3, and find Dakar 2 to be overall a slightly better jacket, but I would still recommend Dakar 3.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK as mesh, not a 3 season jacket I think it's OK as mesh, but not a 3 season jacket. Very good airflow, very cool. In fact I was a bit cold riding under 18C degrees and had to put on some layers over my t-shirt. That's about it's best feature. Sizing is a bit large. According to the chart I'd be 3xl... It was WAY too large, I was floating in it. So I exchanged it. The XXL fit better. I'm 6'2" 250lbs Plenty of pockets, both zipped and velcro. The not so good. --The armor is very nice and very good quality, but it's all very loose and moves around easily. It's not a very well tailored jacket, with proper structural elements to keep everything where it's supposed to be. --I wish they'd used a magnet instead of a hook for the collar. It's really hard to hook it open one handed. --The inner lining is much too loose, so the elbow pads pull it down and the liner hangs out of the cuffs. The snap that's supposed to hold the insulation liner is always hanging out of the cuff. Even if you place the elbow pads and push the sholders up, there's always an inch of liner and a snap hanging out of the sleeve. Every time you want to velcro the cuff you have to fiddle around and stuff everyting back in. It's like nothing is properly stitched together. --I don't know how long the cuff velcro will last, I've seen better quality velcro. --The weight of the back pad pulls the jacket down and can pull the collar against the throat. --It comes with a rain overcoat, but it's a bit too large and has no exhaust vent, so at speed it acts like a huge parachute. It also doesn't have a hood so it's useless without a helmet on... like while camping or just walking around town. It's also made fit/attach under the jacket, but then you need extra layers to not get cold, and after the rain your jacket's wet. Basically, the rain jacket is useless...like an aftertought they threw together from some cheap overstock. My old Nelson Rigg fits much better, doesn't parachute, packs smaller, and has a hood! So guess which one I'll be carrying? --It has an insulation layer that I haven't tried yet, but it's not windproof and the jacket being mesh, I can't see how effective it'll be without the rain jacket on as well, and the rain jacket is cr@9... so... bleh. It didn't look like both the rain jacket AND insulation could be attached inside the jacket, so the whole setup just doesn't work well. So, overall it looks nice, the XXL fits me pretty well, and it's pretty good as a mesh jacket even if the tailoring isn't great. However I'm very disappointed with the rain overcoat and insulation. I'll be keeping my old jacket for fall and spring riding, because I don't think this jacket's going to cut it for anything below 15C degrees. If you're looking for a good 3 season jacket... wouldn't get that one. If you're looking for a budget mesh jacket... I guess that one could do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I reeeeally like it, so comfy ! So comfortable and well designed. At 10 degres with only a t-shirt I'm warm enough. Highly recommanded I'm 5'10 - 165 lbs and the medium is just fine, a little bit loose on the waist but with the adjustments it's ok !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizes on the large side Hello Reader, I am a 5'11" 245lbs man and I bought a size 2XL as per the sizing guide. I usually wear an XL jacket as I have a less than athletic build and they tend to fit a bit tight in the torso. This jacket's height and weight guide would be more suited to a more athletic build for the weight as I have ample room in the arms and chest. This works well for me as I plan to use this jacket for spring and fall riding when I would layer a bit more; however, If you are buying the jacket for warmer weather and three season riding I would size down if you have a similar jolly build as myself. Other than that I have no complaints and it appears to be a solidly made jacket.
