          Description

The Pirelli Scorpion Trail II Tires were specifically designed to meet the versatility of the modern adventure touring motorcycle. They feature an aggressive tread pattern supported by strong technological innovations, giving good stability even at high speed, excellent traction on dirt as well as superior handling, comfort and grip in all riding conditions.

          Tread Pattern

The tread pattern of Pirelli Scorpion Trail II Tires have an aggressive look typical of an off-road tire, but that combines the greatest features of an enduro tire with those of a sport touring tire. The side grooves have been designed to ensure optimal drainage of water, while the layout and shape of the central grooves not only contribute to the drainage of water but also ensure better traction, greater stability and normal wear.

          Compounds

The entire Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tire line features a dual compound construction. Compared to its predecessor, this tire has a wider central section which contains a compound developed for high mileage without compromising cornering performance. The side compound was designed to optimize the balance between performance on dry and wet roads.

          Profile

Thanks to a shorter, wider, contact patch area, the profile helps to reduce and level the wear of the tire while maintaining consistent performance throughout its life.

          Structure

The structure that lies beneath the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 Tires ensures high performance, even at full load or with heavier motorcycles, making it comfortable for long trips and winding roads.

          Features:

          • Increased mileage, improved wet grip with an incredible performance consistency throughout its entire life cycle
          • Innovative tread pattern combines the typical off-road style of the Pirelli Scorpion™ range with the experience directly derived from the Angel GT (Pirelli's top sport touring product)
          • Peak performance of enduro and sport touring blended into one product
          • Larger center compound stripe to guarantee enhanced cornering performance
          • Central compound developed for higher mileage and improved behavior in wet conditions
          • Side compound for optimized balance between dry and wet performance
          • High performance for heavy, fully-loaded bikes
          • Incredible versatility ensures peak performance on long, straight journeys or twisty roads with the most adverse weather conditions
          • V-rated for speeds up to 240 km/h (149 mph)
          • W-rated for speeds up to 270 km/h (168 mph)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very dependable and predictable cornering! I fitted these myself (front and rear sizes) on my Triumph Tiger 1050 late last year (2016). I rode through the winter (South Vancouver Island, BC) am very pleased with their performance in dry and especially wet conditions. These are the tyres that Motorrad Magazine, Germany, have voted as best Adventure bike tyres two years running. Anything a German motorcycle magazine tests and recommends has to be a good thing, which is why I bought the in the first place. I like them so much that I may fit them to my 2017 Africa Twin CRF1000L when the time comes. I found them OK to fit to the Tiger rims, front and rear, with the correct tools and plenty of Amor-All rubber/vinyl care solution. *Tip* Do not use liquid dish washing soap or detergent when fitting tyres as many detergents contain salt which may rot the rim sealing faces over time especially with aluminium rims.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not cheap but worth every penny. Scrubbed in the tire for 50 miles (no hard leaning or braking) and have noticed a distinct improvement over the Battleax which is also a good tire. Better tracking. less noise and the wet performance is superb. I feel very secure and will explore cornering limits when warm weather returns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vast Improvement I replaced the Metzler Tourance tires on my 2009 BMW R1200GS with the Pirelli Scorpions. Incredible difference in handling and smoothness of ride. The Metzlers howled on corners and felt a little rough. I will always run the Scorpion Trail II tires, very happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Successful Successor Improved tread wear should compliment the outstanding wet weather grip on this super tire, got 15000 km on the original tires, will use them with confidence on my next bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These tires are great I have close to 1000 km on these now and I can't say enough about them. They are solid in the twisties and an improvement on gravel. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Same for Fort 9

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Le pneu parfait Je cherchais un pneu 80/20 pour mon NC750X. Je roule surtout sur le bitume et les routes de campagne, le Scorpion Trail est parfaitement adapté à cette utilisation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality tires. Better Traction Haven’t fully tested these tires given the weather, but what little rides I’ve made I can feel a noticeable difference in traction. Roads are covered in gravel, tires rarely slip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s like you’re on magnets Not as agile as I’d hoped, compared to my Mefo Explorers, but these tires grab as if you’re in magnets. I’ve read that they are good on diet / gravel, but I’ve yet to try anything off pavement with my 2017 Africa Twin. Excellent tires for my adventure tour from the Kootenays to Alaska, starting next week.

          Questions

Does the red dot on these tires indicate the heavy spot on the tire or the light spot.

This indicates the lightest point, and should be positioned next to the valve.

Darn good price on this tire. D-Spec?? Designed for the Ducati Multi-Strada? Any reason it would not be suitable for an R1200GSA? Weight/speed rating seem fine.
