Better than OEM
I put these shocks on my 05 Heritage Classic in hopes of a softer ride. I have to say that after running some of the same roads with bad frost bumps it is somewhat smoother now without the harsh jolt. I would have to say the harshness has decreased by 50%. I set my preload at 35mm with a full tank of gas and riding gear on. Installation took about an hour. I was able to change the shocks while the bike was on an atv jack. I'm not dissapointed with this purchase.

Great product
I didn't realize how much the handling of my softail had deteriorated, until I installed these shocks. What a joy to get my bike back. Great product and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Time saver
I ordered this and it was recieved 3 days early . You can tell a difference with the new shocks and the ability to tweak the shocks for an extra passenger is great . There also was a price drop and they honored the price adjustment .

Snap ring came loose but I popped it back in.
I installed them and after ride one it was firm (too firm) so I had to confirm with Progressive that clockwise makes them software (which is counter intuitive and also youtube people got it wrong). Once I was able to soften the shocks there are much better. I did have a strange situation where the snap ring came undone and Progressive told me not to ride them like that. I tool the shock out and was able to snap the ring back in. No shocks in summer is a bad thing. As of now, they are in and I am happy. I may even make them a little less still, still. They take the bumps no problem and with 2-up and loaded the ride is very smooth.

Stiff ride
I was looking at getting a softer ride compared to the stock shocks (OG with bad back) but these didn’t deliver, ride still appears quite stiff!

Totally changed the ride quality. Makes a Fatboy feel sporty, no more nose dive, stabile and firm through sweepers, confidence inspiring.

Just what the bike needed
100% better handling. A must have if the bike is unstable in corners.

Questions
When people talk about 'ride height adjustment', everybody seems to talk about lowering the rear end;- I want to raise it on my 2016 Breakout. Can I do this with these 422 shocks? Please enlighten me. Cheers ecbc
Measure the shocks have, decide how much you want to raise your bike and buy longer shocks.

How do you adjust the Progressive 422 with the RAP when only 1 shock has a line attached when there are 2 shocks
Only one shock has rebound function. They both have compression springs however.
