Description
The new, high-performance, outstanding ZR chains take a big step forward with the new patented Z44 seal rings. These new generation seal rings, which feature a special-designed conical shape on their inner side, are the result of the evolution of previous X-ring and Z-ring designs.
Features:
- Patented “Z” ring section.
- The Z-ring flexes when assembled, creating a spring effect that guarantees the seal will not diminish over time.
- The special Z-ring section provides enhanced chain flexibility.
- The lubricant trapped between the plates and the lobes of the Z-ring keeps the ring lubricated and increases its life.
- ZR chains are the best choice for the most severe and demanding applications. Among other characteristics, the ZR chains feature high alloy steel plates and pins, solid bushings and rollers, shot-peening of plates, pins and rollers, performance-enhancing pre-stretching and “gold” outer plates.

Chain and sprockets
The chain and sprockets seem to be very good quality. I do not have enough kms on them yet to know how durable they will be in the long term. The chain came with both rivet and clip-on link connectors. I installed the rivet type.

Nice chain but can't rivet the master link
The chain itself looks to be fine. The riveting link, however, is not compatible with the common riveting tools such as the Motion-Pro one that I purchased with the chain. Nor are there clear instructions as to how to use the supplied link. I used the clip type link which also came with the chain but there is a clear warning on the box not to use that with bikes over 500 cc. While my bike is under that displacement, I'd prefer the security of a riveted link.
