The Mantis is a true chameleon when it comes to features and looks. A sportive jacket at first glance, the Mantis offers waterproofing thanks to the incorporated yet detachable hydratex® liner. This liner then doubles as a wind blocker on colder morning rides, so you can stay comfortable even when it’s chilly outside. Upgraded to this after buying a pretty basic textile Icon, looking for something with a more leather and some waterproofing. Despite having a mesh body, it's still pretty hot on summer rides but airflow is decent. The inner liner cuts down the wind nicely around 20 degrees C but I found it got a bit chilly riding lower than that without another layer. I sprung for the Revit back protector and it does feel a little bulky in the small on my 5'8", 140 lbs. I'm decently broad shouldered and it makes it hard to raise my arms up for an extended time. Otherwise, no issues with riding. Got caught in a pretty hard rain storm once and the liner kept me dry.

Excellent combination of features!I was wearing this jacket during an accident last fall and it really did the trick. Absolutely no scrapes , cuts or bruises to myself, but you could see where the jacket took the impact. I loved it so much, I bought another one to replace it. The combination of the materials used makes it light, cool and as noted above - safe. They fit on the smaller side - so rather than a Large like I usually wear in m/c jackets - I needed an XL. If you are between sizes - go up one.

Just feels safeI am 5'10", 175 lbs with a slim/medium build. The XL fits me nicely with a sweater, somewhat loose with just a t-shirt. I think I could have ordered a L and be OK with it, but I have yet to buy the back protector, so I suspect the XL was the right size for me. Sleeve length is perfect.
This jacket vents quite well, but is still hot when riding above 30 degrees C, but that's normal for practially all jackets. It has a nice inner liner, but I haven't used it yet. I really like the styling and the overall quality seems good so far. I wish it had the higher gauge zipper as I'm concerned that it will fail at the insertion point, where most zippers seem to fail...so i'm always careful when first zipping it up. The CE level 2 elbow and shoulder pads are what really sold me on this jacket. They are just so much better than level 1 pads in every way: bigger, tougher, thicker, and they seem to sit in a more correct position that most level 1 pads. I feel much safer and more protected than I would in a jackets with level 1 pads. But I was surprised that this jacket was rated only to A for abrasion...it honestly seems like it's closer to an AA given the leather sections around the forearms and shoulders. I guess the extensive mesh usage brought the rating down. Either way, I'm very happy with it and am looking forward to getting chest and back protectors in the near future to get the full protection available by this awesome jacket. One annoying thing: when wearing just a t-shirt, the skin on your elbows will get scratched as the inner lining in that area is quite abrasive and the level 2 pads are less forgiving when contouring around your elbow. Small price to pay, however, for superior protection.
