Got it to work, eventually.
I purchased one of these rotors for my XS 650 and it works perfectly...after installing my OEM Yamaha ring plate, since the igniter trigger magnet went dead within a week. There was also a lot of insulating lacquer buildup on the taper and keyway which prevented proper installation of the assembly. The keyway was also poorly machined and wouldn't let the rotor seat properly on the shaft. This, combined with some high spots on the internal taper, resulted in a rotor that rubbed against the stator housing, causing a fair bit of damage to my brush holders. I would have returned it for a replacement, but I didn't want to wait any longer to get riding, and I had the parts on hand to fix it, so I did. Warranty? Shot now I assume. It's a shame, since you can see it has much better workmanship than the lousy, cheap, wobbly $100 rotors coming from other sources. One of those bit me a year ago. So, mixed feelings about this product. It works great now, but should not have had the issues it did, nor needed 2 hrs of rework to get it functional. Had it been install and ride, I would have given it a solid 5 stars. I probably just got a duff one, and should have returned it for an exchange, but XS riders are used to wrenching I suppose!

Failed after 1 year
Failed after one year, obvious flaw in that one lead was not secured at all by lacquer and vibrated off, poor quality control!
