Ehhhh.. could be better
Well I bought it about 6weeks ago, honestly I love the size and all the pockets, but unfortunately good looks didn't last, after about a month it starting warping and collapsing inwards, still looks ok but not as sturdy as I expected , have to be honest the customer service at fortnine were very helpful and friendly, we are working on a resolution, will update once resolved

Good bags
I bought these to replace another set of Saddleman bags which were damaged in a fall (saved the bike from serious harm). In general, they are not hi quality bags fake leather and plastic closer (that breaks easy), they get the job done and look good. These are roomy and far better design than my previous bags. One bag sits funny on my bike not sure if its due to weight in the bag, did I not drill the holes just right or warping from the heat of the sun (30C+).

Good bags
I purchased these bags and also bought the Quick detach hardware that removes with a key - that way I can bring them in the hotel room with me. I don't consider soft bags with little locks theft proof so get hard lockable bags if you want to leave them on the bike. One feature I like is the way they open - I find no matter how much gear I pack on the bike above them on the passenger seat I can always get them open with might not be the case with hinged lids. Also, I had them in rain for about 2 hours and they stayed dry which surprised me since the side pocket zipper is exposed. I put my little trinkets in plastic bags anyway. Only negative so far is some warping on the right bag possibly because of the way the bike leans on the side stand when it's parked when there is weight in the bag. If I were to spend more I would get the Viking Lamellar hard bags with shock cutouts, they look nice with the matte leather wrap.

Very pleased so far!
Disclosure: there was a minor glitch with the bags, but FortNine stepped up with an exchange that was completed in two days flat!
The bags look terrific, and are have great capacity. I have been caught several times in very wet weather, they did not let a drop inside, even after several hours riding in rain/wet conditions.
The yoke is very clever - a large overlapped velcro fastener makes it possible to set the yoke at precisely the span you need for mounting on most any bike. Cautionary note: saddlebag supports are a MUST. You don't have to hard mount the bags, but you absolutely need the supports to tie off against, as well as to prevent the bags from interfering with the rear wheel, or just plain flapping in the wind.
They are sturdy, and look as though they should hold up well for regular use. They do zip off easily, and the zip tab can easily be tied or locked to the attached D ring to discourage theft.
Highly recommended.

Not great
Great looking bag, good size but not waterproof and the tie down tabs on the bottom all ripped off within the first two days. Expected higher quality but got what i paid for i guess.

Decent bags for the price
I bought these bags as a replacement to the broken hard bags i had on the bike, although these bags are a good price, the locking system is made of plastic and the lock is very cheap.. Like a simple hard bang or jolt to it and it will come open or break.. As for the mounting options, is says it can be "hard mounted".. But again this is untrue to a degree, if you are thinking hard mounted the way traditional hard bags are via secured to bike with bolts/washers/nuts.. They give you strings and a velcroe pad that gets thrown over the rear seat.. Thats it. I also bought the universal mounting bracket that is sold separately and is to be used for mounting the bags, however the bracket is far too short and didn't even cover half the bag or tire.. Thus prooving to be a waste of money, i ended up using the original mounts that were attached to my hard bags as they covered more of the bag and tire area.

Save your money for some real bags.
I bought these because I was so pleased with my Saddlemen's seat. There is no comparison. While the seat is off great materials, and very well made, these bags are of terrible quality, one of the locking hasps came off of the bag - before I had even put them on to use them!
My impression of Saddlemen products has been considerably affected by this experience. Yes, I could have them replaced, Fortnine/Canada's Motorcycle are terrific that way. But I have no confidence that the replacement will be any better.
Final analysis: these should not be considered by anybody wanting quality, craftsmanship, and long service life.

Most motorcycle luggage is not vehicle specific. Rather, they are made to fit bikes universally.
The best way to determine if a certain saddlebag will fit is to take the dimensions of the saddlebag and compare it to the space you have on your bike. This will give you a good idea of whether or not the bag would fit.

Saddlemen tell us that the Saddlemen Cruis'n Deluxe Saddlebag Set exterior is made of saddlehyde. This is a type of vinyl that according to Saddlemen weathers better than leather and does not take as long to break in. Saddlehyde is water resistant not waterproof.

Can I hard-mount these (no yoke) without the "quick release kit"? I assume the support brackets are required, regardless. What additional hardware might I require?
On my 1981 cb900c I just made some angles up and drilled holes that used the existing holes on the saddlebags. I didn't use the yolk at all. I ended up with a much better setup, I wasn't a fan of the yolk. I did Order saddlebag supports to keep the bags from bouncing around. I drilled holes once again and tied them down with tywraps

Yes they did, I didn't use it as I wanted to attached to a removable hard mount.

How wide and long is the zippered opening on top?
You have full access to the width, the is a 5 inch 'hood ' at the rear of the bag.
