Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rolled up rubbish I wish I had checked the questions section of this product before purchasing it. I have never been so angry and irritated with any product I've spent my hard earned money on. I was under the impression this was a softer, malleable form of poly tape for protection of the paint on my gas tank to go with my magnetic tank bag; something similar to the material you get for screen protectors like "Ghost Armor". Or closer to the rubber feel of the typical tank protector for your zipper. NOPE. This is definitely not the case. This product is hard, unforgiving rolled up "plastic" that will most likely not work for you unless your gas tank is a perfect rectangle. First off, this form of tape should come laying flat, not rolled up in a toilet paper roll like it was. This made measuring and form fitting to the tank exponentially more difficult. It also allows the material to start unpeeling and creasing allowing for dust to start making its way in; PERFECT.. Second, the material provides no give and requires you cut at it in any attempt to get it to turn or blend to your tank. It will leave behind massive air bubbles and empty spots on any sort of divot. Thirdly, and to me the most heinous crime of it: It doesn't even apply clear no matter how careful you are being! It looked like I was applying packing tape to my bike with uneven colour on the glue side. I took every precaution and wiped the tank down using multiple micro fiber cloths and even had it at a nice warm temperature to allow the glue slow time to blend nicely. None of this mattered. The only redeeming quality was that it didn't leave behind glue as I peeled it off, which at this point in my application was well within my expectation of this product. If you're looking for an cheap screen protector that you can cut to whatever size you like for your cellphone, this is the stuff for you. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and move along.

Questions

What is the point of this pruduct, and will it work as grip tape for my number plate for my legs to grip on? Also, could I use it as a frame guard?

Asked by: A 2007 yz250f owner
This is protective tape, and is designed to protect your paint from luggage items scraping against it. It is not designed as a frame guard, nor as grip tape
