Best set for your butt
I was going to order this seat through FortNine. Ended up getting it through a local dealer. Saddlemen's website has way more options for this seat than are available through F9. Customization of the seat from Saddlemen is crazy. I got mine with lattice stitching in red, the logo in red and "gripper" on the lumber and passenger portions of the seat. The seat initially sits up a bit higher and firmer than expected but broke in nicely. The backrest is positioned in a manner to push you on the lower back during acceleration. Wonderful seat, amazing stitching and leather, quality workmanship through out. 10 out of 10 would recommend! Both of my bikes now have Saddlemen seats. They're that good.

Amazing Seat
Great seat, holds you into the bike much better then stock. Gripper panel is a nice addition. Very comfy seat, takes awhile to break in but soooo much better then stock.
Only downside is the passenger section is very narrow, my 110lbs wife hardly fits on it

Simply the best
Been riding 33 years , this is by far the best seat I’ve ever had. The seat is firm & grippy , the backrest is a game changers. Even at its lowest position it provides enough lumbar support to be able to ride all day pain free

Not so good
I had both SDC and Predators II on my 23 street glide. If you’re over 200pds forget it, secondo, leather is way too thin or bad quality that it gets ripped underneth where it sits on the bike and third, even a 30 seconds light rain will be totaly wet for thé rest of thé Day. Îm going back to P II next season.

Great seat.
Very comfortable. Been on some long rides with it. No problems. I’ve owned the Le Pera kickflip on a previous bike. It’s a very similar feel.
I’ve heard these seats aren’t that comfortable. But maybe they meant other Saddlemens. Because the SDC Performance one is really nice.

Questions
How's the passenger section does it have the gel and is it comfortable?
The SDC seat does not come standard with gel for passenger and is not ideal for passenger. My suggestion is the Tour Step Up for passenger comfort. Or the Explorer seat.

Is the backrest removable if desired.
Yes, the lumbar support is removable and adjustable.

What is the difference between the Saddlemen SDC seat and the step up seat?
The difference is in the foam shape and covers on the seat. The SDC will be more of a rounded shape and contoured seating area. The Step Up seat will be more squared off and an aggressive seat position. The seats covers will also use some different materials as seen on the seats themselves. Passenger seating area will be wider on the Step Up and narrower on the SDC seat.
