Excellent grip and mileage per dollar.
I am now on my second shinko raven rear tire and am now using a shinko raven on the front as well. My first rear tire cost me $140ish including shipping to my front door within a week. Previously to this i had settled on buying michelin pilot powers (after trying bridgestones and pilot roads and a few other tire brands as well) which were the only tire that i find gives similar grip to a shinko raven in hard full throttle near-full lean corners. I would be lucky to have surpassed 4000kms on a pilot power even if it was a dual compound. I have a 1990 gsxr1100 with yoshi 4-1, air filter pods, jet kit and a 4 tooth-up rear sprocket. It is a tire tread destroyer and i ride it hard every single day commuting back and forth to work. The shinko was an experiment gone perfectly right for me. I wanted to try it out to see if it would be a decent tire with enough grip to instill confidence on the street while still giving up improved mileage, because the price could not be ignored. I got 10,000+ kms out of my last tire and almost never had a traction loss incident that i didnt intentionally cause (both the michelin pilot power and the shinko will power slide in 1st gear at about 50km/h in a near full lean angle and under full throttle, they perform identically except under a slide the shinko feels more predictable and controllable), except once during high speed riding (190km/h, yeah yeah i know) in heavy rain at night in a corner at the bottom of a small coulee (likely just hydroplaned on a puddle collecting at the bottom of the coulee). That single unexpected traction loss incident only increased my confidence in the tire as i easily recovered from the very minor slide and even sped up the rest of my ride a bit. I ride my bike hard and want something that i can trust to keep me planted but still be cost conscious and get great mileage. The tire has a wider flatter tread contour than a pilot power which probably accounts for the great tread life, however it still grips as good or better than the pilot power, and the tire geometry had a different feel to a pilot power at first, like when entering a corner, however it quickly becomes the new normal handling feel. This tire far exceeded my expectations and as long as the price stays this competitive i will continue buying shinko ravens until my bones become too brittle to keep riding motorcycles.

Always comeback to the Raven
I've tried a LOT of different tires on my 2009 GSX-R750 and I've always come back to this one. Tired of experimenting, keeping the Ravens on from now on. Best wearing tire I've had and, unless you take it to the track, fine for street use.

Not tired of this cheap tire
This is a good quality tire for the price, hard to find a nice grippy sport touring tire for $100 but here it is. I expect to get about 5 to 6 thousand Km out of it (which is what I got last time) but I have to admit to being heavy handed on the throttle which scuffs off rubber. I also ride loads of twisty roads, on and off the throttle. In a straight line I'd expect to get better wear. Overall a good middle of the road purchase.

Shinko Raven tires.
I have purchased these raven tires a few times as well as there 705 on off road tire on my 900 Tiger, but most recently the raven's for my 1050 Tiger both give excellent grip in wet or dry as well as excellent treat life for great price im on my second set highly recommend them.

Fantastic tires.
My second set of Shinkos, the last ones went every day over the course of two years- ok, 3 snow days I took the bus- and were blown went I had these installed. After getting them scrubbed they stick to the pavement well, turn in isn't dramatic and they'll lean as far as you want to go. My big concern here on the Wet Coast is rain and they've been exceptional. That greasy dusting of precipitation? No worries. That rain that falls so hard it sounds like a huge pan of bacon frying on the stove? We ride right through it. They inspire confidence regardless of conditions and that's exactly what I wanted.

Questions
Are these a viable choice for a cruiser (Kawasaki Mean Streak)?
Why not? I run these for the second year now on a Kawi Versys 650. They stick good, but wear a little bit faster than Michelin's per se. However, they cost half than the Michelin's. In my opinion, hard to find a better tire with this price tag.
